T N Krishnan (b. October 6, 1928) whose full name is Trippunitura Narayanan Krishnan is a Carnatic music violinist.

Biography

His parents, A. Narayana Iyer and Ammini Ammal, were also Carnatic musicians. He learnt music under Allepey Parthasarathy Iyengar and later Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. He was a Professor of Music at a music college in Chennai and later he was Dean of the School of Music and Fine Arts at the University of Delhi.

Awards and titles

He won the National Award from the Sangeet Natak Academy in 1974. Later he was awarded Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 1980. He was awarded both the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri by the Government of India.
