Weteye

Yeah, you pretty much rule. Thanks. --IvoShandor (talk) 16:29, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hehe. You're very welcome :). Seraphim 16:32, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

One day we'll get nostalgic for disaster

Okay, it's a lyric from the song that samples it. Whatever >_> Anyway, do you want to help out with getting Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen song) to FA? :) Sceptre 21:49, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Hmm...I'll maybe help out. That's the best I can offer :P. Seraphim 00:49, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

PUI

Hi. Someone has raised a question with File:32. Imperial stormtrooper costume.JPG, which they've tagged as a "derivative work", presumably because of the Star Wars' costumes in the photo. It was tagged quite a while ago, but DumbBot has only recently started dropping it at WP:CP, and I transferred it (en masse) to WP:PUI for handling on December 14th (here.) Typically, that board is overworked, and it doesn't look like these have been processed in any way. Images are not my area, but I'm trying to help handle some of these. I wanted to let you know about the matter so that you could weigh in there. --Moonriddengirl 12:37, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. It didn't cross my mind when I uploaded them: d'oh. I'll delete them myself (they're not that good anyway). Seraphim 00:49, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Already emailed you the same, but Merry Christmas! And I should really get to bed... Sceptre 02:59, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Thank-you. My sincerest wishes for a happy new year for you both. Seraphim 22:32, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Last Warning

I obviously don't understand WP:NPOV properly, since I really don't see what I'm doing wrong. 194.189.32.65 (talk) 14:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Link to my reply. Seraphim 14:34, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Tbh, in the context it was fairly neutral. That article as it stands is pathetically biased, portraying the band in an overly positive band, when they are (quack quack) BLATANTLY crap. 194.189.32.65 (talk) 14:58, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
"This probably doesn't conform to NPOV" -194.189.32.65. You understood it wasn't neutral when you added it. "Blatantly crap" is your opinion. As was explained to you previously, negative criticism is permissible provided it is neutral, relevant and encyclopedic. For example, "Allmusic/The Independent/Billboard etc, stated <insert criticism>". Seraphim 15:04, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Would "I, user:194.189.32.65, stated..." be acceptable? 194.189.32.65 (talk) 15:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
No. Seraphim 15:22, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
It's for pretty much the same reason we don't say drum and bass or the like isn't crap; there are some fans out there (deluded or not) which would take offense to their favourite band being called "crap" on a Misplaced Pages article when it's ultimately a person's opinion. New WP:RDREG userbox

This user is a Reference desk regular.

The box to the right is the newly created userbox for all RefDesk regulars. Since you are an RD regular, you are receiving this notice to remind you to put this box on your userpage! (but when you do, don't include the |no. Just say {{WP:RD regulars/box}} ) This adds you to Category:RD regulars, which is a must. So please, add it. Don't worry, no more spam after this - just check WP:RDREG for updates, news, etc. flaminglawyer 23:32, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank-you. I've been reading the ref desks but not contributing to them for awhile. Seraphim 23:42, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Burr (rapper)

You declined the speedy on Burr (rapper) giving the reason that it already was Afd. This is not a sufficient reason for declining a speedy deletion. Please provide such a reason. Thank you. Shadowjams (talk) 11:14, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

The prod was declined and now the community are deciding what to do with the article at AfD, ergo, I will not unilaterally delete that page. Seraphim 11:24, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Email

Hi, Seraphim - I dropped you an email a couple of days ago - could you confirm whether or not it arrived? Thanks, and sorry to pester!! ╟─TreasuryTagcontribs─╢ 17:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello! Not pestering at all - sorry to have taken so long to reply. I replied about 5 minutes ago, though coincidentally, it was before I received this message :). Seraphim 23:15, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

AFI-PUNK

AFI-PUNK is abusing yet another IP: 93.194.250.103. Do you think you can get him blocked? Timmeh! 20:32, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

SOP in these cases is to range-block AFI, seeing as how he likes to hop IPs... mind you, I thought she had already done so, about two weeks ago. Or maybe those blocks have expired. Fweh. Sceptre 21:53, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
They must have expired, as yet another IP has popped up in the last few minutes. Timmeh! 14:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I think it might be time to reapply the range block. I thought I'd just watch and see if he could change...no such luck. The last time I checked contribs from his range it seemed that he was the only one editing. I can't seem to find the link to re-check that though so I might consult a CU on this one. Seraphim 17:01, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

In the 93.194.192.0/18 range, there was one named sockpuppet of AFI-PUNK (now indefblocked) and there are a handful of unrelated users. A medium term anonblock with account creation blocked should not unduly effect those users. If a hard block is necessary, you can apply it, and forward complaints/requests for IPBE to me. Good luck! -- Avi (talk) 18:12, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Actually, it might be easier if you made the block because if someone does get affected, they'll see your name and contact you directly? Whatever is cool with you. Thanks very much for the super quick reply. Seraphim 18:16, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Done My pleasure! -- Avi (talk) 18:20, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Ceran

Hi Seraphim, a small point perhaps but I would appreciate it if you would reconsider and perhaps slightly rephrase your comment about Ceranthor. October is now five months ago which is IMHO somewhat more than a couple of months. WereSpielChequers 17:49, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok, I've changed the word "couple" to "number". As for the rest of the oppose, I feel my points are accurate and do not need modifying, unless it is to include additional information. Seraphim 17:56, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
On the same topic, I realised I didn't take credit for copyediting Made in the Dark (not that I want to take credit; your prose wasn't that bad). The only article where whether I was a major contributor or not is a bit debatable is Through the Looking Glass (Lost), which I used to call my "and a half" when I talked about RfAs. Sceptre 02:56, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Lol but why would you take credit? I've never really understood the whole culture of detailing every little thing someone has done to help wikipedia. When you write a page, and I mean actually write the majority of content of a page, then sure you deserve the credit for it since it is far more difficult to write an article, which involves searching for reliable sources, interpreting them correctly and writing something out of nothing, than it is to move a few words around for better flow. Copy-editing is a vital part of improving an article and it's something I'm a bit rubbish at thus I fully appreciate someone else's input, but I seriously don't believe it makes a person a major contributor. But then perhaps I'm a hypocrite since I keep a sub-page that documents articles I've written...although I'm pretty sure I've said countless times in the edit summaries that I add stuff there to remind me to work on it again. Memory like a sieve :). Seraphim 06:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
The reason I wouldn't take credit is that that was your first featured article. It'd be rude of me to claim credit on it. And yeah, I don't see copyediting as what makes a major contributor, but then again, I hardly ever copyedit articles I didn't write. And why are you online at 6:34am on a Monday morning? Stamina like a panther you have. Sceptre 08:50, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I did write practically everything :). It's become part of my Monday morning routine (I have to get up at 6). I like a quick internet fix :). Seraphim 10:11, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. Rewording a few sentences doesn't make me the originator of the content. Durova's "triple crown" asks for you to contribute sources to the article too, not just words. Sceptre 10:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

The wind picked up, the fire spread, the grapevine singing, left for dead

I know we have a backlog of music articles to work through together, but do you mind if I add Narrow Stairs to that. I see potential in that. And maybe the new EP (hint hint cough cough) as well. Sceptre 23:02, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

AfD badgering

About A Nobody; it's no use trying to argue with him. I left him a similiar message yesterday and he blew me off. Glad to see others agree with me that his behaviour is disruptive. ThemFromSpace 17:27, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Ah, I hadn't seen that. I've seen this behaviour so many times without sanction. There are some people whose game I just don't know how to play. Seraphim 17:33, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
And you will also see in that section an editor thank me for being persistent and it resulted in his changing his stance as well. I encourage both of you to be more open-minded when it comes to AfDs in the future. It is not about trying to "win", but about exhausting all options on the table to reach a consensus that gets to the "best" option. Anyway, please note my most recent reply to EEMIV. Hopefully, this dead horse will be put to rest. Regards, --A Nobody 17:42, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
The dead horse will be put to rest when you stop beating it as if candy's going to fall out. Seraphim 17:44, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
If only we actually did get candy out of this. Mmmm... candy. Maybe it's time for lunch, bad enough I skipped breakfast! Sincerely, --A Nobody 17:49, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
