Template:Rescue Oakdale is a fictional city in Texas featured on the television series Wishbone. It is the place where Wishbone, a dog, lives with his owner, Joe Talbot. All the show's primary characters live within Oakdale and most of the "real world" action takes place there. Many of the show's exterior shots for the town were taken in Allen, Texas and Plano, Texas. The shots of Oakdale on the show imply that the city is not very large, in particular that it has no skyscrapers.
Places in Oakdale
- Pepper Pete's is the name of the local Oakdale pizza parlor. Joe Talbot and friends often eat and converse there.
- The office for Oakdale's local newspaper, The Oakdale Chronicle, is located in downtown Oakdale. It is owned by Joe's neighbor, Wanda Gilmore, who inherited the business from her father who won it in a poker game. As seen in the episode "Digging up the Past", the paper has run since at least 1930.
- Oakdale Sports & Games
- Beck's Grocery
- Henderson Memorial Library - Ellen works here as a reference librarian; based on "Digging up the Past", the library has probably existed since the 1930s or earlier; Mr. Knutson used to work here
- Dart Animal Clinic
- Rosie's
- Sequoyah Elementary/Middle School
- Oakdale Park
- Holbrock Plant - industrial plant opened in 1929/1930, which was "a big day" for the town, and closed in 1995 due to UPA violations ("Digging up the Past")
