It's being wrote in a story style for example the king then ordered the traitors execution. The blades fell on the deletionists and so on. Won't be written as a move style because that got it deleted. They have no excuse to delete it now or then they will have to delete the whole of D.O.F. Your Deletion of SierraSil By deleting this article so capriciously, you are indicating that YOU believe that SierraSil is NOT a legitimate product NOR is it used by millions of people from all walks of life throughout North America. I tried to create an article that was balanced and credible,to help people looking for information on the product. If you think the article was blatant advertising, why not help by simply making editing suggestions, rather than just censoring? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanjpf (talkcontribs) 05:36, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Your skills are needed

Your skills at making subcategories are needed. Take a look at the Category:Alternative medicine. There are a number of "loose" items that should be in subcategories. I'm not sure what to do with a couple of them. Others can with benefit be left "out in the open", since they are more or less subcategories unto themselves. -- Fyslee / talk 21:59, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi Sticky. You did a good job in getting what I would imagine to be a first representative version of the article into shape. I think that I already mentioned this in the AfD. What more would you like me to do? Cheers, Mathsci (talk) 22:39, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Refs

They're pretty simple all you need to do is this:

<ref>blah..</ref> -> <ref name="somerandomname"> blah..</ref>

This is for the first time you use a ref. The next time you want to use the same ref just put this in instead of the whole thing:

<ref name="somerandomname"/> notice the trailing / when you re-use it. you don't do that in the initial ref. Then it'll show up with the little a,b,c, etc--Crossmr (talk) 03:48, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I've been contributing on Misplaced Pages for sometime now. I came through your discussion on Editor Review page of Daedalus969. Its disturbing that he's done the same thing on the article i created on an Indian actress Roja Ramani. I was saying my point, as the discussion was going nowhere, i did not respond to his last msg. But today he comes back and threatens me with trivial error about my signing. What to do with guys like this come and be an impediment in our serious contributions. If you have a look at our talk you'll understand the situation. I'm writing this to you, coz you had a very good, valid discussion. Maybe i need to report to administrators, what do ya think? Re: AN/I

It's not clear exactly what you mean about preventative vs. punitive. Ottava knew that if he didn't drop it, preventative block(s) would be coming, so he did drop it. If there were further incidents, they would be very likely to come down. Roux is doing himself no favours by throwing a fit though - people are far less likely to intervene on his behalf while he's fighting, whether he feels he was victimised or not. He's unlikely to take my consul in this (or any other) regard, though. Mayhaps you've his ear better. WilyD 13:45, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, having watched it unfold live, Ottava was a little over the line, and I gave him a gentle reminder of this. The slow motion replay shows:
There, the cause is lost. Intervening admins are going to act like parents coming home to find their children fighting - they're not going to listen to "he started its" (at least, my parents never did). Escalation continues from both sides, but Ottava clues in fairly quickly that he's heading down the wrong path, apologises and bows out. Nobody's ever going to get an admin bit if they aren't satisfied with that. IFF one had good cause to conclude the apology was phony and Ottava intended to continue the fight things would be different; but it looks legit, and needs to be treated as legitimate unless Ottava gives us cause to think otherwise. WilyD 14:05, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Gentle warning?

You say you're giving me a gentle warning, and then say "you have a history of pestering people"? You're no longer welcome on my page. I don't need a "gentle warning" from you. I don't know you, and have interacted with you once. I'm removing your post from my page (not archiving it, removing it), as it's completely without merit. Druid days and UFOs

The UFOs plus getting caught flying them were published at the time in the Tucson newspaper. It is also recounted on pages 48 and 49 of Great Mambo Chicken and the Transhuman Condition by Ed Regis.

Will you restore on this or should I locate the newspaper dates and pages? (I have them as hard copy but it might take days of searching paper files to find them.)

Image deletion

Regarding this comment on Undead warrior's RfA: what prompts you to think that bots haven't tagged something for deletion when they inform people they have a week to attend to an image file? A number of the apeedy deletion criteria for images come with a seven day clause – meaning that if tagged for speedy deletion, they remain in the deletion category for seven days before an admin is required to turn up to delete. For example, when Undead warrior tagged Tool2Die4's user image as unlicensed, the deletion tag makes it clear that T2D4 had seven days to sort it out.

Please note that I care not whether you support or oppose this candidate. But I can't let apparently uninformed commentary go unaddressed. -- Skarl 08:47, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

A nice note to RHMED would have been a lot better than a warning template. Perhaps you'd consider modifying the notice as an act of good faith. ChildofMidnight (talk) 20:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Okay, sounds reasonable. Thanks for the explanation. I thought his response to a notice of incivility was ummm... interesting in an ironic sort of way. ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:15, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Sadly, there are too many Admins that are happy to block people rather than let a bit of occasional nonsense go. This often infuriates rahter than alleviates the problem. I hope he wises up a bit. I was rather surprised to see his comments as I'd had good experiences with his contributions and collaborative spirit in the past. ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:23, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Just to clarify, I am saying that others often inflame a situation. I think your ability to maintain good humor and calm in the face of some unhelpful bitiness is laudable. We would be well served to have more editors and Admins that could maintain that kind of even keel. I also appreciated your taking the time to explain your reasoning for the notice format you chose. Have a great weekend. ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:18, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

User:999

I notice you informed 999 of some speedy delete nominations. S/he was a sockpuppet of User:Ekajati, now banned, so technically we should have removed any edits s/he made without further discussion.

(I gather that Ekajati had some kind of war with Matisse, and that one of them drove the other to sockpuppetry, though I haven't looked into the details.) Dan (talk) 01:13, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Lulu books

I would imagine books by Jeremy Robinson, Matt Wallace (author) and Mur Lafferty to qualify. And if Scott Sigler ever published through Lulu, then his work would qualify too. - Mgm| 08:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Why did you remove the speedy tag from thhis? It was made by a banned user in violation of a ban, with no substantial edits from anyone else. Sticky Parkin 18:28, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

OK, I've deleted it and then recreated it without the banned user in the edit history. Michael Hardy (talk) 23:10, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Now I'm told that violates copyright, so I've restored the edit history. The answer ends up being that it's an article that ought to exist.

Why was the speedy deletion proposed in the first place? That the article was created by a banned user in violation of the ban is not enough to answer that question, since the policy says in that case an admin MAY speedily delete, NOT that an admin MUST speedily delete. So why should that particular article get deleted? Michael Hardy (talk) 01:01, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: Jhatka

Hi Sticky. Thanks for your input into the Jhatka thread. There are some points to note though:

  1. Sikhs are not vegetarian and there is no preference for vegetarian diet.
  2. Jhatka is done not because of less pain to the animal (although that may be contributory), but primarily because Sikhs do not believe rituals will ennoble the food.
  3. Halal has been historically used as a prerequisite to conversion, so to avoid this meat eating Sikhs were told to avoid this.

PS, I love your sphere. Mind if I nick it? :-)

Thanks --Sikh-history (talk) 08:38, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Sticky. Some nice input. If we can get an ISBN reference stating that many or an idea of how many Sikh are reference then lets add it. The problem I have is that unfortunately we have too many sites set up by Sikh fanatics eg info-sikh.com, www.sikhiwiki.com, that are the views of one sect. That's why I shy away from them. thanks --Sikh-history (talk) 18:25, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

User Talk Page Blanking

Hello, former-adoptive-mother. I had a question about user talk pages that I'm not sure about. In short, I'm not sure what is acceptable to do with something like this. I figure that in removing a vandalism warning, it might make it harder for an admin to (at a glance) tell if a user has a history of being disruptive. I've seen other users just silently remove my posts to their talk page before, but they had a fairly long history of good editing, so I just wrote it off as annoying and rude, but didn't bother. This case is a little different, though. Is there an established practice for this, and if not, what do you think? - Unforgiven24 |Contribs 13:46, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
