A form of iced tea in which sugar is added to the hot water either before or during the brewing of the tea, thus completely dissolving the tea. A staple beverage in the southern United States, available at virtually every restaurant where iced tea is served.

In other parts of the country, people desirous of sweetening their iced tea are generally expected to dissolve sugar in the already cold tea, a difficult proposition.
