Early life
Born to an Italian father and African American mother
Career
Taimak Guarriello is best remembered as the star of the 1985 Film 'The Last Dragon'. Although Taimak had no formal training and was taught on set, Taimak aka 'Bruce Leroy' in the film, brought his martial arts skills and charm, undoubtedly contributing to the success of the film which grossed more than 25 million at the box office. Taimak later appeared in a number of TV roles and music videos including; The lead male in Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait Awhile" music video; Debbie Allen's "Special Look" video; TV show A Different World which covered a sensitive issue occurring on college campuses around the US at that time.; ...And 36 Crazyfists music video "Bloodwork".
Taimak has also worked with a number of high-profile celebrities includingMadonna and starred in a play that toured the United States called Cheaters. To his stage credits, Taimak starred in a hit Off-Broadway show in 2004 called Roadhouse The Comedy, based on the Patrick Swayze film Road House.
From a business perspective, Taimak co-owned a gym on the east side of Manhattan in New York city called "Fitness Concepts". He has since parted ways with the partner but may reconsider re-opening another gym in the future. In the interim, Taimak has completed the first installment of a series of fitness DVDs - which is available for purchase from his website called "Taimak FIT (Find Inner Transformation)".
Taimak was scheduled to appear in the upcoming Tyler Perry play. However, due to a conflict of interest, he will no longer be a part of the show. Taimak recently completed a TVOne interview which will air this Fall - August 2009.
If you visit Taimak's website you will see that he has been extremely busy promoting his fitness DVD, 'The Last Dragon Remake', his Taimak FIT Newsletter, his upcoming play and a new line of health products designed to help everyone stay in optimal health. Taimak has also embarked on a community service venture called "The Dream Coaching Program" with the mission of helping people, young and old experience ongoing happiness.
Taimak is not married but is currently dating a woman who shares his ethnic origins of half Italian, half African American.
