I need your advice on a particular garden that needs tending...

Hi,

I need help from an experienced Wikipedian, and I was glad to see your name over at WP:ADOPT.

I need your advice concerning WP:WPOOK, which I've been coordinating. The set of pages the project concerns is listed at Portal:Contents/Outline of knowledge and Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Outline of knowledge#Projected outline, and has grown to about 500 articles in the encyclopedia.

The goals of the WikiProject are:

1. Increase awareness of readers of the existence of the outlines on Misplaced Pages
2. Complete the existing outlines
3. Create an outline for every subject that is exensive enough to benefit from having an outline (core subjects and major or extensive fields). There are thousands of these.
4. Recruit as many editors to work on these as possible (we need thousands of editors working on these)
5. Surpass portals in number by the end of the summer, and leave them in the dust by the end of the year
6. Get the major outline subject areas displayed on the Main Page (in place of or in addition to the portal links at the top of the page)
7. Increase the OOK to higher quality than Britannica's Outline of Knowledge (published in its Propaedia volume).

I was hoping you could comment on how to achieve the goals above.

Also I'm interested in every possible way of reaching readers and editors of Misplaced Pages. How can I get the most eyes and typing fingers on Misplaced Pages's outlines? Contacting editors directly without a reason relevant to them is spam, which I'd like to avoid. There are 75,000 regular editors on Misplaced Pages, and I want to contact all of them. So how do I do it? Directly or indirectly, I don't care which, piecemeal or all-at-once, all methods are fine with me. But I've got to find ways. I need your help.

I would also like to know how to find or attract editors to create new outlines. And I need advice on finding editors to help write the new outline article mentioned above (it needs to be fleshed out, completely referenced, and brought to featured article status).

Can you recommend anyone in particular who might be interested in sinking their teeth into a project like this? Or ways to reach groups of editors? Or ways to reach all editors? I welcome any and all advice you might have.

Thanks to Afkatk's recent tagging and assessing spree, there are now over 2,700 articles associated with the project and all are assessed. If you happen to see a Eurovision related article without the {{EurovisionNotice}} template on the article's talk page, please add it. Eurovision News The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was successfully held in Moscow, Russia this month. Two semi final shows preceded the final again this year. The first semi final was won by Iceland, while the second was won by Norway. Alexander Rybak won the Contest for Norway with the song "Fairytale" by a record breaking total of 387 points. Following Norway's win, the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 will be held in Oslo and take place between May 25 and 29, 2010. F. Y. R. Macedonia is threatening to withdraw from the 2010 Contest with the reasoning that it has come tenth twice in successive years in the semi final stage, but has failed to proceed to the final in both instances. More than a dozen countries have already confirmed their participation for the 2010 Contest. The countries confirmed so far can be seen here. Wikinews wrapped up its pre-Eurovision "special" with an interview set with eight past contestants. Jessica Garlick, Ani Lorak, Marie N, Niels Olsen, Hanna Pakarinen, Charlotte Perrelli, Sirusho and Tajci all participated. The Misplaced Pages Signpost covered the interviews in its May 25 issue. The interviews were translated into nine languages (Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian), marking the largest translation effort Wikinews has undertaken. Page Milestones Eurovision Song Contest 2009 appeared on the Main Page's "In the News" section on May 16. Eurovision Song Contest appeared on the Main Page's "On this Day" section on May 24, marking the day of the first contest in 1956. Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and David D'Or have been nominated as Good Articles and are awaiting reviews. From the Members Welcome to the tenth edition of the WikiProject Eurovision Newsletter! This month was a very busy month in terms of editing and adding to Eurovision 2009 articles. The 2009 contest is now over but there is still much work to be done. Some Country in ESC 2009 pages are yet to have their "At Eurovision" sections updated. Some countries need more information than others, e.g. Slovenia's article needs to mention that the song was actually sung in Slovenian and English, and not just English like in the official mp3, etc. Work has begun on the 2010 contest article already. The Alternative music WikiProject Newsletter Issue 26 - May 2009

"Well, I remember hearing girls behind me in English class talking about turning 18 and being old enough to strip. It wasn't that weird at the time.'" - Brandon Flowers Project news John Frusciante and U2 were featured on the Main Page on May 2 and 26. We collaborated on The Bends, Interpol (band), "How Soon Is Now?", "Hand in Glove", and "I Wanna Be Adored" during the past month. During the month of May, Fantasy Black Channel was promoted to good article status. This month's "Recommended Alternative Album" is Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out of This Country (2006).

I've gone "snow blind" and need your help

Hi Garden,

Thank you for your previous advice. Per your suggestion, I've started a discussion over at WikiCup concerning our possible inclusion next year.

I've got another problem perhaps you can help with. I've been immersed in this project for so long that I'm pretty sure I'm missing things that would be obvious to someone not closely connected with the project.

Like gaps in coverage.

Would you please take a look at the OOK and tell me what's sorely missing?
