F1 2010 is an upcoming video game based on the motor racing series with the same name and the 2010 Formula One season. It is the sequel to the 2009 video game based on the same series. It will be released in 2010 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows platforms. The game was confirmed by Codemasters on April 23, 2009. The game engine is based on the Ego Engine that Codemasters used on both the Colin McRae: Dirt and Race Driver: GRID games.
The game will feature an arcade and sim mode, including customizable driver aids, online racing and full weather effects.
Features
- All the teams, drivers, and tracks from the FIA 2010 Formula One Season.
- Online racing.
- Full weather effects.
- Mid-corners you can find accumulation of water at the Apex, - Rapid changes of direction require high forces on the tyre and this is not possible so optimised driving line becomes less “pointy” in corners and you end up with larger cornering radii, - Hitting Kerbs shakes the cars and this result is pick of load on tyres and possible loose of grip, - Drivers are following the cleanest line so they all follow the same path. Going out of the path and you will loose some grip and cool down the tyre with higher level of water (needed when the track dries out and the wet tyres are getting too hot).
- Both an "arcade" and "sim" version; which will include realistic laptimes.
- Customizable driver aids.
- Laser scanned tracks.
- Track surface model that will simulate rubber build up, marbles, stones, water etc. This will have both physical and graphical effects.
- Running off the drying line in the wet will give you less grip and cool your tyres.
- There will be wind and sand effects.
- The game will not be moddable.
- There will be crowd effects.
- It will be possible to spray champagne after a race victory.
- There will also be a Career and World Championship mode allowing you to take part as a featured driver or create yourself and become a F1 driver.
- Safety Car
- Next Gen HD Graphics
- The Unofficial CM/Developer FAQ - Direct quotes from members of the Codemasters development team.
- There will not be KERS due to FOTA's agreement to scrap KERS for the 2010 F1 season.
