She was actually the second-oldest in the European Union as French national Eugenie Blanchard is actually older, but lives in Saint Barthélemy.
Lucia Lauria-Vigna lived in the Province of Potenza in her own home with her family. She became the oldest person in Italy on January 13, 2007, following the death of Maria Negri.
On January 13, 2009, she celebrated her second anniversary as Italy's oldest person.
She is the fourth-oldest Italian-born person on record to date, after Virginia Dighero, Amalia Barone and Teresa Fumarola.
