In the article Frank Lester (fighter), you created it and put Mexican flags next to two of Lester's opponents. Yesterday, someone put the Cuban flag next to Cosmo Chiles' name, overriding your Mexican flag. I found a source showing that Chiles was fighing out of California. My question is where did you find information that Chiles was from Mexico and thus gets the Mexican flag next to his name? --TreyGeek (talk) 15:31, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, I couldn't find anything on Cosmo so I emailed someone at Total Combat and they said he was from Mexico. I guess they don't know they're own fighters. Justastud15 (talk) 16:57, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, Chiles could still be from Mexico and be fighting out of California. It would be nice if there was a source to verify Chiles' sporting nationality rather than trying to guess or do original research in to these matters.
- I think, therefore, if you cannot find a source for a fighter's sporting nationality you should not place a flag next to their name. --TreyGeek (talk) 18:08, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- I think that Chiles is an American and is not from Mexico. When I emailed them the question, they type back Mexico with a question mark as if they were unsure themselves.Justastud15 (talk) 18:11, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- All the more reason there should be no flag next to his name. There is no verifiable source on his sporting nationality and by you putting a flag there you are violating Misplaced Pages's policy on original research. It would be helpful on other fighters where you have done this to remove the flags next to them. --TreyGeek (talk) 18:14, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- This is the only one I have done it to so far. I go from website to website trying to find their nationalities. When I can not find what it may be, I leave it with nothing or I have the flag appear with a question mark. Justastud15 (talk) 18:18, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Discussion at MMA WikiProject on determining notability of fighters.
Howdy! If you haven't seen it, there is a discussion at the MMA WikiProject on determining the notability of fighters. Since you like to create a lot of new articles on fighters it may be helpful to have your input on the matter as well. --TreyGeek (talk) 05:09, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
