Smosh is a comedy duo comprising Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox from Sacramento, California. Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, two friends who began making videos in high school, have created a variety of clips and videos, ranging from one-off skits to recurring serialized episodes to music videos. Their video "Smosh Short 2: Stranded" soon won the 2006 YouTube Award for Best Comedy. Smosh also has made a music video with the post-hardcore duo I Set My Friends On Fire entitled "Sex Ed Rocks".

2005

In November of 2005 Smosh began their internet popularity with only 4 videos: "Pokemon Theme", "Power Rangers Theme", "Mortal Kombat Theme", and "The Epic Battle: Jesus vs Cyborg Satan". However, their most, to be believed, pouplar video, Pokemon Theme, would soon be disabled and taken off of Youtube due to copyright claim of the Pokemon theme song. The video can still be seen at the smosh website. Altogether, the other three videos have about 21.3 million views combined, with Mortal Kombat Theme contributing 15.3 million views, making it Smosh's second most viewed video.

2006

Smosh really took off in 2006, releasing several succesful videos, as well as beginning several videos that would be continued in a series, such as short lived series's like the "How Not To" Series", and the Smosh short series. Other series's, like Smosh Food Battle, That Damn Neighbor, and Boxman series's would be continued over the years. In total, Smosh produced 16 videos beginning with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Theme and ending with New Year's Eve PSA. One of the Smosh Shorts, Smosh Short 2: Stranded won the youtube award for best comedy.

2007

Smosh began 2007 with their video "Smosh - Three Wishes" and ended with "Smosh - Santa Is Real!". 2007 also began the "Hardcore Max" and the short-lived "Smosh Breakup" series, in which, when filming a new video, Anthony and Ian get into a fight and decide to disband Smosh and find new partners, but they end up reuniting. The Smosh Food Battle Series was continued with the Food Battle 2007 In total, Smosh made a total of 22 videos throughout the course of 2007.

2008

In 2008, Smosh became very proactive. They uploaded a total of 22 videos, beginning with "Cat Soup" and ending with "A Merry Gangsta Christmas". Smosh continued the Smosh Food Battle Series with Food Battle 2008 and even created a trailer for it. The Boxman series was lengthened with three more videos: "Boxman's Girlfriend", "Boxman For President", and "Boxman Loses The Election". A new, short-lived series was created entitled: "Life As Ghosts", in which Anthony and Ian are deluded into thinking that they have performed: "The Dance Of Death" and that they are now dead and have become ghosts. The: "That Damn Neighbor" series was also continued. In November of 2008, Smosh teamed up with band: "I Set My Friends On Fire" to create a music video about sexual education. They also created the video: "Beef 'n Go", which has earned 21 million views and is their most viewed video.

2009

In 2009 Smosh teamed up with LeVar Burton for an april fool's day video in order to re-design the Smosh website and added several extras, more merchandise, video games, side projects and more to spread Smosh's fan base. So far, Smosh has created 18 videos, adding on to series's such as: Hardcore Max, That Damn Neighbor, and Smosh Food Battle Series, which not only now included trailers, but polls for fans to vote over. Two short series's were created: "Anthony's Death", In which Anthony fictionally dies and then is brought back to life 30 years later, and "A Hairy Situation", in which Anthony and Ian try out as Billy Mays's stunt doubles and Anthony is mistaken as Billy Mays himself, which results in him being captured by terrorists by mistake. Food battle 2009 was published july 17th, 2009, continuing the Food Battle series which was started in 2009.
