G-Unit

Queens based rap group G-Unit (Gorilla Unit) is comprised of multi-platnium rappers 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo & Young Buck. Arguably one of the most successful groups in hip hop today gained popularity on the streets of New York with mixtapes and their own DJ Whoo Kidd. When 50 Cent gained solo success in hus multi-platnium selling album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" featuring G-Unit the group rose to fame. Then 50 Cent through his labels Shady Records and Aftermath Entertainment (both divisions of Interscope Records) was granted his own label called G-Unit Records. He then appointed Sha Money XL. his manager to be the President. The first artist signed to G-Unit Records was Lloyd Banks because the other member Tony Yayo was in prison and Young Buck wasnt part of the group yet. Quickly after Young Buck and Tony Yayo signed they released their G-Unit debut album "Beg for Mercy" on G-Unit Records which Tony Yayo featured on several songs. In the summer of 2004 Lloyd Banks and Young Buck released their solo debut albums "The Hunger For More" and "Straight Outta Cashville" both going platnium. Shortly after Jimmy Iovine who is the President of Interscope Records proposed a joint venture which Aftermath Entertainment west coast rapper The Game would be signed to both labels so 50 Cent and Dr. Dre would work on his album. Then 50 Cent signed the 1st lady of G-Unit Records Olivia. Shortly after The Game released his platnium debut album "The Documentary", him and 50 Cent began feuding ina result of 50 Cent dropping The Game. Before the 50 Cent-The Game beef came about, Sha Money XL had plans to start a new division of G-Unit Records called G-Unit West headed by The Game. Right before those plans were scrapped 50 Cent signed Spider Loc who was a crip from Compton. Then Sha Money XL appointed Spider Loc head of G-Unit West. In the summer of 2005 50 Cent signed Mobb Deep, Mase & M.O.P.. Even though the only members of the group G-Unit were 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Young Bucl & Tony Yayo, the roster was growing vastly. 50 Cent recently announced that he signed Lil Scrappy and Lil John through a joint venture between G-Unit and BME. The Sha Money XL announced that Philadelphian rapper Freeway would be signing a joint venture through Roc-A-Fella and G-Unit. This making G-Unit roster now have 11 artists. If you wish to learn more about G-Unit Records you should visit G-Unit Records and learn also about there rappers about to be signed.
