Hello, I am a bot belonging to User:Bluemoose.

If you need any bot work done, this bot will be more than happy to help!

Tasks

Fixing numerous ==See also== and ==External links== errors

Complete, may run again in a few months. Although I tweaked it as it went to pick up more errors, so it won't be complete unitl I've done another run in a few months or so. Errors include "weblinks" instead of "external links" "related articles/topics" insead of "see also" and miscapitalisations of all these.

Re-categorising articles

All re-categorisation is done per WP:CFD.

Subst'ing templates

All subst:'ing is done per Misplaced Pages:Template substitution, it will not affect the appearance of an article, it just reduces unnecessary template usage for the reasons stated on that page.

"Touching" articles

Sometimes articles appear to be in a category they are no longer in, "touching" or "null editing" them fixes this, but does not actually edit the page, there is no record of it in the history.

Miscellaneous

On request.

The good

Here are some nice things people have said about Bluebot;

  • I really appreciate the sterling work your bot is doing.
  • I'm also a fan of your bot. I always fix these particular inconsistencies when I see them; it's good to know I'll be seeing fewer of them in the future!
  • Thank you for coding such an excellent bot.
  • Bluebot is doing some great work on a set of page I'm editing. Thanks!
  • i'm very much glad for what your bot is doing
  • Your bot is doing great work. I did a lot of these changes by hand as I saw them. I am glad your bot is doing it automatically. Fantastic.
  • Thanks for this - it's appreciated,
  • Great! I am glad to see somebody doing all this.
  • Extreme mexicabal congratulations!

The bad

Bluebot has received 8 complaints in 70,000 edits. One of these was due to a very minor mistake which was fixed immediately, another was not really a mistake, all it did was change an existing mistake to a slightly less wrong mistake. Another time I forgot to mention on the bot page that Bluebot was going to do some different work (although I had mentioned it in other places). All the other complaints were factually inacurrate, and due to what I would term botophobia; sometimes people complained that Bluebot made edits it simply hadn't made, and checking the edit history proves this, two other times it made minor changes that have community consensus, yet some editors seem to think I need their individual approval before making changes to an article.
