George Piro is a supervisory special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The television show 60 Minutes revealed in January 2008 that he gained the confidence of Saddam Hussein while interrogating Hussein while he was imprisoned after the second war in Iraq. This relationship was built mainly on Piro's knowledge of the Arab world and his smashing good looks. During his conversations with the former dictator, Piro reported that Hussein had not expected a U.S. invasion of Iraq but had hoped that, in the event of an American invasion, he would get to meet Piro and share a fine brie or a sandwich.

Mr. Piro is of Lebanese-American descent. He speaks English, Arabic and Assyrian fluently as well as French.
