Dorood is a polite way to say hello in Farsi (also Parsi or Persian), whilst Bedrood means see you next time or goodbye. In modern day Iran and most other Muslim countries however, Salām which is originally an Arabic word has become a more common greeting.

Dorood (also Dorud) is a city in the Lorestan province in western Iran. "Do" means two and "rood" means river and the word dorood means the place where two rivers meet each other. And "Dorood" is called "Dorood" because it's located at the meeting point of two rivers. This city is famous for its beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. "Gahar" is a big lake of this city and Bisheh waterfall is its biggest waterfall.

Dorood is the centre city of Dorud County. This county had an estimated population of 250000 in 2005.

Dorood is also the name of a giant oil field offshore the Iranian island of Kharg.
