Andy Scott Harris (born February 11, 1998) is an American child actor. Harris is best known for portraying Johnny on FOX-TV's hit show "House M.D.", episode Big Baby (House) and his role as Jimmy in the USA Network web series-pilot Little Monk.

Personal life

Harris was born in Kiev, Ukraine, then orphaned and adopted two years later by Deborah, a Project Manager, and Scott Harris, a Software Engineer. Harris moved with his new American family to Minnesota. Harris, a highly intelligent youngster, had impressed his caregivers at his Ukraine orphanage with a strong sense of rhythm and love for music at just two years of age, earning him the nickname "Hollywood". He surprised his new parents by showing a desire to sing, dance and act using the few English words he knew at the time. Ironically, his first U.S. performances included a dancing Russian soldier in a school production of "The Nutcracker" and a Russian child in the Primrose Theater production of "The Fire Princess."

Young Harris sang with the Metropolitan Boys Choir (2003-05), played cello in recitals for the Augsburg College Suzuki Program (2003-07), and participated in Minnesota stage productions including "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Cheaper by the Dozen" before taking private acting lessons taught by local casting director Michelle Hutchison of Lynn Blumenthal Casting and on-camera acting classes at The Academy For Film and Television. Impressed with the youngster's abilities, the Academy's owner suggested that Harris attend a summertime New York City convention attended by 3,000 actors hoping to be discovered. Signed by a manager and agent, Harris and his mother relocated to L.A. in November 2007.

In addition to acting, singing, and dancing, Andy Scott Harris enjoys playing rock guitar and classical cello, swimming, golf, tennis, World of Warcraft video games, and making people laugh by tucking in his ears.

Career

Harris started his professional career by booking commercials for Target and Best Buy at age 4, followed by a singing and dancing role in the stage play “The Fire Princess at age 5, and a small part in the Harry Potter spoof, “Harry Putter and the Sorcerer’s Phone” at age 7. He followed with roles in Minnesota stage productions "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at age 7 and "Cheaper by the Dozen" at age 8.

Upon arriving in Los Angeles in early 2008, Harris booked the starring role in the multiple festival award-winning short film "The Closet," at age 9, followed by a string of 20 short and student films for prestigious film schools including USC School of Cinematic Arts, University of California, Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University and the New York Film Academy. Upon turning 11 he booked starring roles in the American Film Institute graduate student film "About Charlie," and "Amory Blaine, Son of Beatrice", based on the Based on the novel, This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald. For his performance in the short film, "The First Impression", he was nominated at age 10 for a 2009 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Short Film. Harris performed numerous stand-up routines at The Improv in Hollywood and Brea with the young performers' comedy troop Standing Tall, led by casting director Joey Paul Jensen. His music video acting performances include "Shot of a Gun," for Kane (Dutch band), Underoath's "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures" and "Bang! Bang!" for The Knux.

While filming House, director Deran Sarafian dubbed young Harris as a “One-Take Wonder” after observing him accomplish a difficult scene on the first take. Harris has a photographic memory, and the ability to memorize an entire script in a few readings. At the first rehearsal for the Greek Tragedy, “The Trojan Women”, Harris nimbly provided missed lines from memory for the stumbling adult actors, upon which the Tony Award-winning Broadway director Tony Tanner exclaimed, “Who is directing this bloody play, you or me?”

To be released in 2009 is the feature film “Kissing Strangers”, in which Harris portrays a younger version of the lead character, Max. Plans are in the works to star Harris in a made-for-TV movie and subsequent TV series narrated by Kelsey Grammer, and a couple of feature films written by Daniel DeWeldon, son of the famous monument sculptor, Felix de Weldon.

Andy Scott Harris is represented by Amsel, Eisenstadt, and Fraisier for theatrical/commercial, AKA Talent Agency (voice-over), BMG Models & Talent (print), Body Parts Models (hand modeling) and managed by Luber Roklin Entertainment.
