Sanborn created Kryptos, a sculpture on the grounds of the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia.
He also created the Cyrillic Projector, a sculpture installed at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997.
In 2003 he developed an exhibit, Critical Assembly, which modeled the first atomic bombs and key experiments of the Manhattan Project, which ran at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
