It was presented by the Mexican lucha libre company Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and promoted in conjunction with World Championship Wrestling (WCW). WCW Executive Vice-President Eric Bischoff had helped AAA secure a show on American pay-per-view television, and AAA did not disappoint, staging a show considered by many to be one of the greatest in the history of pro wrestling.
