Entdimensionalisierung

Sure I can help. Here's a start:

The first couple paragraphs are at de:Entdimensionalisierung now. Kusma (討論) 03:26, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

I got some feedback on the translation here, asking for an example for a measuring device that is first calibrated relative to some known unit, with subsequent measurements made relative to this standard. In a sense, the answer is "basically all measuring devices", but I wonder if you have a particularly nice example (maybe not just "a yardstick")? If you try and add something, leave me a note and I will check your German. Oh, and thanks for the flower! Kusma (討論) 01:54, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Reference Desk Archive

Thanks for the thanks! Really, the RD is one of the best parts of this whole website, I figured it's my duty to archive it now and than. When you mentioned you couldn't find where I left the questions, I checked and I realized that the page must not have saved after I put them in, or something? I'm so embarassed! Well, I promise next time I do it I won't lose questions to the ether like that. Magical checkboxes

Is there a way to make an option in Firefox to allow all the checkboxes in a deleted list to be checked off by default? --HappyCamper 22:46, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Not that I'm aware of, but thankfully there is something of a hack. Using Greasemonkey and a script from userscripts.com called Checkboxes (or somthing of that nature), it does exactly that. You may select or unselect numerous radio buttons by holding down the shift (or control, I don't remember) key, and viola! Everything is beautiful. If anything I'm typing is incorrect, I appologize, as I am on a dial-up connection and Internet Explorer (ugh), but I hope to be back soon. -Mysekurity 04:20, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
P.S. the more I thought about it, if you wanted, you could create a Greasemonkey script with code modified from the selected boxes script to have them deselected by default. In any event, good night, and good luck :). -Mysekurity 04:20, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Clarence F. Stephens

RE: CLARENCE F. STEPHENS

Hi- Now that I've added the second set of quotation marks I think you'll find that there is not verbatim copying of materials. I've also added additional sources. Thanks for your help the preceding unsigned comment is by WinnipegCanada (talk • contribs) 05:07, 24 December 2005

Could you please help?

Hi Happy Camper-

You were very helpful to me with my Clarence F. Stephens piece, which I greatly appreciate. I recently posted a new piece on the "Potsdam Miracle," in which I had enclosed all verbatum materials within quotation marks. However, it was (within three minutes) flagged as a possible copyright violation. I promptly responded and asked the "flagger" for help. Instead, all traces of the piece are now gone. What should I do?WinnipegCanada 05:28, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

In limbo

Hi HappyCamper-

OOPS! Please disregard the following message. The problem no longer exists. Thank you for your help on the piece.WinnipegCanada 19:55, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

I've re-written the "Potsdam Miracle" entry to address fair use concerns and also listed another web site as an additional resource. However, the piece seems to be in limbo. It's listed as one of my cohntributions, but is otherwise inaccesible. Therefore, no one is able to react to the current content of the entry either favorably or unfavorably.

Are additional edits desirable? Is there any action that I can take to get it out of limbo?

Thanks you for your help. WinnipegCanada 19:46, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

Linking to Headings

Howdy Happy Camper, I appreciate your tips and helping me get started off on the right foot. How do I add a link to wikipedia link to a heading on a different page? For example, on the article I'm trying to copy in, I would like to link directly to the sub-page heading from the Main Page. The "#sub-heading" approach that normally works with html doesn't seem to work with wikipedia. Hope that's clear. Thanks. --Jim 20:13, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

May I ask...

How did you find the article to make this edit? --HappyCamper 22:13, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

I was doing Newpages patrol and came across this page. Why? Punkmorten 22:15, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

delete?

HappyCamper: I received a reply from Mr. G. I think that the UAV history is a worthwhile project to organize/finish, though he doesn’t encourage me to port it all. Though the work is public domain, I respect his opinion. Is it too long or too much information for Misplaced Pages? Maybe it should all just be marked for deletion? Sigh. --Jim 18:40, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

I think it is worth while to continue. I understand he is busy and isn't interested in a "committee writing effort". Most of the information is there now, and just needs reorganization. I'd say give it a little bit and see if you get a response asking you to delete what is there, otherwise we can finish organization. --Jim 19:09, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

re: 2bar

Hi there, saw your posting on my member page. Sorry about not responding earlier, I was traveling extensively and didn't see it. I appreciate your feedback on the links that I have posted. I have tried to keep them as simple as possible. When posting, I always try and ensure that they are relevant and of value. In regards to creating a page about the site, I feel that would not be appropriate for me to post it. My goal is not promotion, but to hopefully provide additional information for people. -- 2bar 06:15, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Music

Flourish

How about "Four short movements by Kevin Norbury: Flourish, Pavane, Basse-Dance, Hornpipe" () -- I'd never heard of it, and I even tried searching in Grove (there's always a possibility Malcolm Arnold wrote something) but Google found this one.  :-) Antandrus (talk) 03:24, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Hm, never heard of a "Howard Symphony" and it doesn't ring any bells ... unless you either mean something by Howard Hanson (very popular in the U.S., lots of horn solos) or Leslie Howard (not familiar with his stuff, really). Regarding writing music for Misplaced Pages, I use Finale. Others use Sibelius. There is an open source method (lilypond) that I've never tried, but others use and like -- maybe give it a whirl. Have fun! Antandrus (talk) 03:31, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Grieg Sonata No. 3 opus 45

It looks like we have this instead: Sonatas for Violin and Piano (Grieg) -- an article that treats them all as a group, but yet is mostly about the C minor, the third of them. (I don't like putting pieces together as a group like that unless they're part of a suite or something.) Might be better broken out as its own article (Violin Sonata No. 3 (Grieg) would be the correct title I think). Hey, happy new year! Antandrus (talk) 06:42, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
