Daniel Soriano Razón (born October 11, 1967) is a radio and television broadcast journalist from the Philippines. He currently hosts UN Television Channel 37 morning newsmagazine program, Good Morning Kuya.

Career

In radio stations like KYFM and YES! FM, Daniel started as disc jockey, going by the moniker "Dr. Clark". His foray in television began with the noontime newscast, Balita ala Una, where he anchored the news daily with Luella de Córdova.

Later, he moved to ABS-CBN’s DZMM in the morning show, Gising Pilipinas. Razón also became host of Compañero Y Compañera with the late Senator René Cayetano and the Filipino Channel’s (TFC) Kumusta Kabayan, the country’s first interactive Filipino talk show program in international television. Whenever there is a suspension of classes he commonly says "Awan ti serrek, Manong" Ilocano language meaning "No Classes, Brother" (generally, "No work and classes, Brother").

When he joined GMA Network in 2002 he was immediately assigned as one of the hosts of the morning show Unang Hirit; alternate anchor in Frontpage: Ulat ni Mel Tiangco and became 24 Oras in 2004-2005, a primetime newscast and SAKSI, the late newscast of the said station.

In June 16, 2005, it was reported in the Manila Bulletin that Razon was forced to resign from GMA for the network "to maintain its neutrality in the midst of the on-going bitter conflict between the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) and of Ang Dating Daan (ADD)." At that time, Razon was the Vice Presiding Minister of MCGI, and that the network had been receiving text messages from both Iglesia ni Cristo and Ang Dating Daan members, each accusing the other of wrongdoing. GMA "felt being placed in the middle of such conflict will not serve its best interest and decided to let go of Razon." The source of INC's complaint stemmed from a Razon's pronouncement in MCGI's doctrinal activity in which "You can see demons in Net 25 (a network owned by INC members)." Razon was quoted in the MCGI website that "I’d rather lose everything than to lose God" in reaction to the conflict he was facing regarding his job in "Unang Hirit" and in ADD.

Razón is also a singer and songwriter. Some of his compositions are "Unang Pag-ibig" (First Love), "Dala kong Nakalimbag" and "Pangarap ng Puso" (My Heart's Wish). His latest album "All My Life" was released on September 2008. His album was awarded a gold record on the day of its release.

Personal life

Razón was born in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. He is a nephew of international fugitive and controversial televangelist Bro. Eli Soriano.

"Persona Non Grata" of Apalit, Pampanga

Razón, the Vice-Presiding Minister of the Members Church of God International, on his daily morning TV show "Good Morning Kuya" (aired over UNTV 37), charged that decisions of the Municipal Government. were due to outside influences and that they were against the ADD (MCGI). This prompted the Apalit Municipal Government to declare Razon a "persona non grata". The Municipal Council approved recently Resolution 28 series of 2008 declaring Razon as undesirable person in the town. The resolution further states that "Razon's pronouncement in the said TV program has misinformed and misled the public and is meant to malign the wisdom of its officials and put them in a bad light".
