Amanat is a U.S. businessman and entrepreneur who began his entrepreneurial career at Datek Online, a pioneer in online brokerage services which merged with TD Ameritrade for $1.3 Billion in 2002. He left Datek to co-develop the trading platform Cybertrader with Philip Berber which was ultimately sold by Berber for $488 million to Charles Schwab . He went on to become the founder, CEO and majority shareholder of Tradescape, a brokerage and technology firm that processed 7% of NASDAQ's daily trading volume, and was named one of the "Top 100 Companies in the United States" by the Red Herring magazine with annual revenues of over $250 million. E*Trade acquired Tradescape for $276.2 million in total consideration including $96.2 million in initial consideration plus $180 million in contingent consideration.
He has also been the Executive Producer of several films with Ebay co-Founder Jeff Skoll including the Academy Award nominated The Visitor, George Clooney's documentary about the Darfur genocide entitled Darfur Now, as well as other films such as Smart People starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Quaid, and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh starring Sienna Miller and Nick Nolte among other movies.
