Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Mendip Hills (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection vandalism, This is featured article of the day on Misplaced Pages front page, so as a consequence is attracting a lot of vandalism. 24 hours temporary protection should sort things. . Simple Bob (talk) 12:47, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Comment For a lot of people, the Featured Article of the Day is their first experience with Misplaced Pages. Since Misplaced Pages's most distinctive feature is that it can be edited, I think it would be a disappointment to have to make the most visible article on the site be impossible for anyone except administrators to edit ... moreover, there are established users who aren't admins editing this article as well, as you can see in the page history, and to put full protection on the article would make these on-going improvements impossible. Mary Lou Lord (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection Has been the subject of minor revert war for the last couple of weeks, since the subject of the article wrote something that got sent around the internet, inciting her fans to edit her wiki page to remove a particular paragraph. Those who have removed the offending paragraph have all been new or anonymous users, and none have offered any justification or posted to the talk page. Dindon (talk) 03:07, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. FASTILY 09:04, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

The Friends' School, Hobart (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection perhaps permanent or long term, Persistent vandalism from multiple anonymous users, especially in the "notable alumni" part. Idiots keep adding my real name in the notable alumni part along with the title "wikipedia vandal" as some kind of cruel joke.--Wikinv (talk) 00:21, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Indefinite full protection user talk of blocked user. Editor 410 (talk) 00:08, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

User(s) re-blocked with talk page editing disallowed. The clown can spout his nonsense elsewhere. I wonder when these people are gonna learn that, in practically all cases, we don't know their ethnicity and that they aren't Pres. Obama. :/ —Jeremy 07:25, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Since late last year, a Dynamic IP has been inserting terms that violate WP:Terrorist and WP:NPOV to this article and the APPO section of the Oaxaca article. This has led to the article being short term semi-protected several times. However almost immediately after the semi-protection expires, the IP returns and makes the exact same changes -- as happened today when the latest semi expired. The Dynamic IP will edit war with other editors, in an effort to insert its desired language, but refuses to discuss the edits on its talk *pages* or the article's talk page. While I think a range block would be useful, it might just be simpler to semi protect this article for a longer time period (6+ months). nsaum75 22:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. -FASTILY 09:13, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

    Kanye West's 5th Studio Album (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protection vandalism, ...or just delete the article. Repeated addition of unsourced info by multiple IPs. Pontificalibus (talk) 22:15, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Declined Page deleted. -FASTILY 09:14, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

    St Paul's, Bristol (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary move-protection, Page move disable only due to being moved to common miss spelling. AJUK 21:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Please deny this request. This problematic editor is making controversial page moves him/herself without consultation and is now trying to use this mechanism to protect his/her actions. Instead, force the editor to discuss on the appropriate talk pages as requested. --Simple Bob (talk) 22:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
This page has existed under the name St Pauls, Bristol since 2004. Recently User:Ajuk placed a page move request to new name St Paul's Bristol and after a mere two days the page was moved by User:Dlohcierekim. I pointed out that the note had only been on the article talk page for two days and User:Dlohcierekim reverted the move. User:Ajuk then reverted that move without any response to my query about the move on the artcile talk page, so I reverted to the original naming. Both forms of the name are used by various official sources and I see no reason for User:Ajuk's change and feel that further and full discussion is needed before any change is made. Kajang–Seremban Highway (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection due to persistent vandalism, spamming and edit wars done by Lekas123 even after the page is being reverted and restored. - Hezery99 (talk) 10:33, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Declined I have warned Lekas123 (talk · contribs) to stop vandalizing. If they continue to vandalize at Kajang–Seremban Highway, file a report on them at WP:AIV. -FASTILY 09:18, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
