Can't Be Tamed is the third studio album by American recording artist Miley Cyrus. It will be released on June 22, 2010 by Hollywood Records. Album producers in Can't Be Tamed include Antonina Armato, Tim James, and John Shanks. The album's lead single will be its title track, "Can't Be Tamed".
Background
Cyrus decided she would take a musical hiatus, after completing one last album, Can't Be Tamed. Her reason for the hiatus is so that she would have time to explore a variety of musical genres and grow up, along with her fans. Cyrus admitted music isn't inspiring her the way it should be. "The more I make music that doesn't truly inspire me, the more I feel like I'm blending in with everyone else", she said. In regards to music, Cyrus originally desired for a new sound, a more rock music inclined one. She later revealed Can't Be Tamed contained music influenced by pop singer Lady Gaga, possessing techno music inclined songs. The album will be released in the summer of 2010, as Cyrus believes it is "definitely a good summer CD. It's good to blast in your car". A standard edition, containing only an audio CD, and a deluxe edition, containing an audio CD and a DVD, will be released on June 22, 2010; the DVD will contain previously unreleased footage from Cyrus' Wonder World Tour (2009). Album producers whom worked on Can't Be Tamed include Antonina Armato, Tim James, and John Shanks. Cyrus, Armato, and James composed the album's title track, which, according to Hollywood Records, is "a self-empowering song in which Miley asserts that she has to stay true to herself in relationships". The official album cover was released May 7, 2010 on her official website. This CD is her break-away from Disney and Walt Disney Records.
Singles
"Can't Be Tamed" will be released as the album's lead single on May 18, 2010, through digital distribution. Contemporary critics, thus far, have given the song positive to mixed reviews. The song's accompanying music video was directed by Robert Hales and features Cyrus performing the song in a giant bird cage.
