Ellie Paskell (born 1986 in Urmston, near Manchester) is a British actress who trained at Guildford school of acting. She began acting when, aged 11, she joined the Carol Godby Theatre Workshop.
Paskell is best known for playing Maxine Barlow in the BBC One hit series Waterloo Road. She joined the show at the start of 2007, early in series 2, as a 15-year-old drop-out who was living rough as a drug addict and was introduced to the series at the girlfriend of expelled pupil Lewis Seddon played by Craig Fitzpatrick. The character soon returned to school and was involved in numerous high profile storylines, including exposing her own mother's boyfriend as a serial sex attacker, moving into the home of French teacher Steph Haydock (played by Denise Welch), overcoming her drug addiction, the tragic find of a baby in the school playing field, which turned out to be Maxines' and most of all the tragic end her character met in series 4. When the episode aired on 25 February 2009, Maxine was fatally shot by boyfriend Earl Kelly (played by Reece Noi). She also played a minor part in the second series of Ashes to Ashes. Recently she had played a youth in Casualty who was hurt in an explosion in casualty, she had a minor part which progressed through the end. She also played Julie Stanlake in Casualty a teenager who gave birth early and dumped her baby in a dustbin. She aLso worked with David Threlfall and the rest of the Shameless cast when she filmed a gripping three episodes of the hit comedy drama as bubbly Sammy Dee. Shown on Tue 16th, 23rd and 30th March 2010, Channel 4. She was also a teaching assistant at Brecknock Primary School in London. She also had a small role in The Bill as a drug addict who sold her baby which later turned out to be missing. Ellie is currently rehearsing The Crucible which will run at Regents Park Theatre 24th May-19th June.
