Just Friends is a movie about an overweight high school student (Ryan Reynolds) who is in love with his best friend (Amy Smart), but she doesn't feel the same way. Later in life he becomes very successful and very atttractive (he loses all his extra weight). When a tour with a very popular singer (Anna Faris) brings him home for Christmas, he has one chance to prove his love to "the girl he never forgot." There is some controversy over the film due to the perceived shallow message of the film.
The movie includes memorable roles by Chris Klein in an unusual character of a ruthless, evil womanizer, Chris Marquette as Chris Brander's younger brother, and Stephen Root.

Making of the film
The movie was filmed in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in the middle of winter. This is the first Hollywood film to be shot almost entirely in Saskatchewan. With the popular Canadian CTV comedy series Corner Gas also filmed south of Regina in Rouleau, the film industry in Saskatchewan made significant gains in the North American film market from 2003 to the present day 2005.
