It featured notoriously on the TV program Jackass, due to the fact that it sounds like "my anus", though it is actually pronounced "my ANN-us". Geographically, Mianus is nestled in a valley between two mountains.
A river of the same name runs through Mianus and the town is also noted for its high quality education facilies with North Mianus High School having a considerable national reputation and Mianus attracts students from across America.
Robert DeNiro owns a house in Mianus.
