Welcome
Hello, Kukini, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Misplaced Pages
- How to edit a page
- Editing tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --Syrthiss 15:32, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi. I've noticed your edits to Governors State University, and at the moment some (all?) of the text is a direct copy of material from their website. If that isn't corrected, the page will likely be marked as a copyright violation and deleted by me or one of the other adminstrators. If you would like to rewrite the information in your own words, Misplaced Pages will welcome the contribution of your article. If you need help understanding the copyright issues involved, please see the Misplaced Pages:Copyright FAQ. I just wanted to give you a heads up before you put a lot of effort into the article only to see it deleted. --Syrthiss 15:32, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hello and thank you for the advice. I just went back and edited it much more to my own wording, but based on the public information and information I know about GSU. I do not know how to respond to you aside from editing the user talk, as I am new to this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kukini (talk • contribs)
- Not a prob. The article looked better last time I checked it. You can respond to comments left on your talk page either here (I edited it a little to make the conversation easier to read), on the talk page of the person who left the comment, or both (as you did :) ). Its a matter of taste which you prefer. Replying here keeps the conversation readable by other people, but unless people have your page watched they don't know that you have replied. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or want me to check the page again. --Syrthiss 16:19, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- Much thanks for the help and advice! Kukini 16:31, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Current events
When you add an item to Current events, be sure to include a link to a news source which supports your addition. Especially, in this case, one which says twelve members of the family were killed. User:Zoe| 22:25, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Done Kukini 23:20, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, that's what we're looking for. :) User:Zoe| 02:36, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
ITN
That's okay, we were all new once :) Though I'll disagree that certain angles of news are ignored. --Golbez 23:47, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- What's that a prime example of? It hasn't been overlooked at all. It's on CE. It just wasn't ITN material yet. --Golbez 23:52, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
POV Edits in Current Events
Thanks for your help. How do you do the "revert to" command? Is that an editor command that is earned? Kukini 03:15, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- There is an admin command that makes it easier, but I'm not an admin. Adminship can be earned by it takes several months and at least 1000 or 2000 edits. But anyone can revert. You can look at the history and click on the timestamp of the last good version (the one you want to revert the page to). Then, the click "edit this page" at the top of that version. You'll get a warning saying you're editing an old version. Just post something like "reverted to someUser version" or "reverted vandalism" in the edit summary, submit, and you're done. joturner 03:25, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Please stop. Unless you are pepared to list every single time somebody is killed in Iraq, your choice of one item is showing your agenda. I am anti this war, but I am also against POV pushing, which is what you are doing. Also note that there is a three revert rule, and you have reverted three times in the past 24 hours. If you revert again, you will be blocked for violating the rule. User:Zoe| 03:39, 6 January 2006 (UTC) }
AND...HOW MANY TIMES have you reverted, based on a POV. It IS significant history. Not a POV. Why don't your millions of reversions count. I see them as oppressive. Kukini 03:42, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, Kukini. As you are a new editor to Misplaced Pages, it is important that you become familiar with the three-revert rule. Zoe, I know Kukini just reverted the article again, but please do not initiate a block for him; I am certain he didn't know. And Zoe, by continuing with the reversion, you too are violating the three-revert rule.
- Kukini, I will have to agree with Zoe on this one. This is a war (or one-siding bombing if you prefer). People die all the time; there is nothing extra special about this event. joturner 03:44, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, 3RR doesn't apply to admins reverting vandalism. I warned him. He's blocked for 24 hours. User:Zoe| 03:46, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Fine, but I feel strongly that adding a news article about an accidental massacre was not vandalism. Your edits, Zoe, did not feel very equitable. Peace. Kukini 03:49, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
For example, why not also delete this?:
- Around 130 Iraqis and 7 U.S. soldiers are killed in a series of explosions throughout the country.
The item you mention could be removed, and I wouldn't object, though it does seem to have a little more historical importance. User:Zoe| 21:11, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I agree, all deaths are equivalent, but we would have to keep track of every single death in Iraq on the page, and that's not historical, unfortunately. User:Zoe| 21:38, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Repeat vandalism
The best place to report repeat vandalism is at Misplaced Pages:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Admins tend to keep track of that page. User:Zoe| 20:03, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Re:Oops
Heh, i noticed, don't worry, it's cool. Logan1138 16:45, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you
Hi again,
I guess it was a bit confusing to learn how to get on your Talk page as there was no direct reference to it on your page , but I guess I managed to figure out that your talk page is basically accessed by "discussion" link on your page. So I guess I am learning! I think over time I will learn the ins and outs of how to navihgate , function and maybe even contribute to it.
Thank you again, hadjibaba. 209.172.144.203 17:50, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
thanks for the info
The way it was written was one sided with derogatory comments such as "supporters of the status quo". I attempted to bring some balance to the article. It probably needs a controversy section with both for and against. By the way, I also wrote the section on lethal injection drugs... I used to moonlight in a neurosurgical ICU and I managed patients in medical induced comas. In addition, I have lots of experience with give phenobarbital for DTs. The original is on my blog. :) Either way, I was just seeing how wikipedia works. If it eventually gets modifed by everyone to be completely against lethal injection without balance, there is no point...
The IP Welcome
Apologies, I thought you were goading Zordrac (talk · contribs) there, he was blocked and was using that IP. Although it's generally frowned upon by custom unless there's a good reason(like the one above) or it's your own user/user talk space, there's nothing against it on WP:TP. Karmafist 03:57, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, speaking of welcoming, I was wondering if you do it often. I seem to have the record. Karmafist 04:00, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- I was wondering if you could answer my question: Are you trying to piss off Zordrac? Karmafist 04:27, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Nope, I don't even know who that is. I just noted eidts with no comments from an IP. Kukini 20:53, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- No worries, just remember that except on your user page, your edits are pretty much open game, even though comments are almost never removed unless there's a very good reason. Karmafist 05:31, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Please don't randomly change pages to American spelling, ie Jabber Australia. It is important to maintain the integrity of other cultures and languages, we're not all American. dystopianray 06:03, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for the double hello in the course of two days. I of the protean dial-up IP address have been hanging here in various comic, animation, symbological and miscellany spheres since October. I'm curious as to whence I attracted your attention, to be so nicely welcomed twice.--172.171.98.229 08:28, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Kukini, to Esperanza, the Misplaced Pages member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Misplaced Pages events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Misplaced Pages a better place to work!

Crappy Admin
Having problems with Admin? I'd like to hear all about it. --Masssiveego 09:22, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have no idea what the above is referring to here. Kukini 07:45, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
An Esperanzial note
As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank you! Help me?
Thank you for your welcome note. I am trying to add information about Garden Eel - actually, not information, since I don't have any, but I do have a photo of them that I uploaded. Image:FH000014.jpg. Now what to I do? There is not a page for Garden Eel, and maybe there should not be - perhaps it should be under Eel? I'm not sure! Any help would be good - thank!
why now?
Hello, I've been just contacted as an anonymous contributor. I'm just curious why I was contacted exactly now, when I have contributed to Misplaced Pages for ages. Has Misplaced Pages's policy changed, or perhaps I've transgressed some kind of a "contrubution quota"?
thanks for the welcome
I'm really intimidated by the wealth of knowledge and the esoteric nature of wikipedia, but I'm determined to learn.
Nicholas Mann 05:16, 31 January 2006 (UTC) (hope that worked)
Thanks for the welcome
Thank you very much for the welcome and for the explanation concerning it. I must acknowledge that I enjoyed feeling more anonymous, and less community-bound. My work with Misplaced Pages has gone on for many years and from many IP addresses, but it has had a very low intensity :) (a small correction or note now and then), and so I intend it to stay for the time being. Thus, I think I'll wait with the registration. Thank you once again, and I wish you luck with your noble cause! :)
Thanks
Thanks for the welcome!
I'd already found a couple of those helpful pages on my own, but it's nice to have the links all there. I'm certainly enjoying my Wikipedian experience so far. It's a great project! Anyhow, I'll keep you in mind if I run into any trouble... All the best! JonathanDS 14:47, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you
Thank you for your kind welcome. A review of your user page tells me you will be a valuable person to know.
I wish you continued success. Optimus maximus 21:34, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your help
Thank you for your help on the school counseling article. I think it needs be more neutural and talk about the traditional approaches vs. the newer approaches to school counseling. It may need to be simplified by removing jargon as well. Also, I would like to do a School counselor article in the simple English version of wikipedia. whicky1978 00:05, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
