Revision as of 18:32, 2 September 2010 by 198.144.194.66 (talk)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)Acoustic foam is foam used for acoustic treatment. It is typically open-celled. It attenuates airborne sound waves by increasing air resistance, thus reducing the amplitude of the waves. The energy is dissipated as heat.
Many acoustic foam products are treated with dyes and/or fire retardants.
Acoustic foam is often cut into the form of wedges to facilitate the breaking down of the sound waves.
