Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! Participation report — We have 71 participants in the September drive. 95 people signed up for the July drive, and in May we had 36. Progress report — We have been making solid progress in eliminating the 2008 articles from the backlog so far. If we continue to focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Overall volumes are lower than expected though, with nearly a thousand articles yet to be done if we are to meet our overall target. If you have not yet participated in the drive, we recommend you do so. If each person who signed up edits one article per day from now till the end of the month we can eliminate another 1,065 articles from the backlog. All contributions are appreciated. Announcement: credit for 10k+ articles — Participants editing a 10k word article may claim credit for two 5k+ articles on the leaderboard. Those that edit a 15k word article may claim credit for three. Regardless, the article is still counted as a single article in the tallies. Reminder — Articles from the Requests page can be included in your tally, even if they do not have a copy edit tag. This is a great place to go if you are interested in finding a higher quality article to work on. Copyedit requests

Hi AccessDenied - I saw that you left a request for copyediting on Malleus Fatuorum's page for One Step Closer and just wanted to leave you a note. Usually, "expert copyedits" are the last step in the process. At this point, the article has absolutely no references - this should be the first step in the process, as the article won't make it to either B or GA class without these. The prose doesn't need to be expert for these steps. Also, a lot of times, as references are added, the prose changed significantly due to nuances and additional information given by the sources. I would suggest taking a look at some of the other songs that are already of GA class (or FA class) and checking out their referencing. Please let me know if you have any questions. That's another clue. :) I have to say I did a double-take the first time I saw "Access Denied" in bold red letters, and it took me about 2 seconds to realize it was just a funny username. LGBT Adoption - Florida

Hi there - you reverted my edits to the LGBT Adoption page relating to the State of Florida. I'm assuming good faith and thinking that you haven't heard news of the recent court ruling and executive decision by Governor Crist. LGBT Adoption is now legal in Florida. I do recognize that that piece needs citations, and I will add those tomorrow. I didn't want to leave the inaccurate information out there, however. Additionally, I removed the link to the map of North America as it continues not only inaccurate data on Florida, but also Arkansas - where a ban on gay adoption was struck down back in April.

American vs. English English

September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated! Several of our top editors were called away to real life concerns during the month (be careful out there, people!). This meant that once again, we did not meet all our lofty targets, but we did come close. Stats Out of 76 registered editors, 45 actively participated. We nearly wiped out the 2008 articles from the backlog—there were only 13 remaining when the drive closed. We reduced the backlog by 725 articles (11.5%), so it was another successful drive. A total of 59 barnstars will be awarded to 40 editors—well done, and congratulations to all. Barnstars If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you edited in the July 2010 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, you may have earned rollover words, which counted towards this month's barnstars (except for the leaderboard awards). Any unused word credits will be held over for the next drive, as long as you participated in the September drive. Over the course of the next week or two, we will be handing out the barnstars. Roman Catholic population of Ecuador

Today less than 65% of the Ecuadorians are Roman Catholic. The information of the Cia Fact Book is old and has to be updated. 50 years ago Ecuador had 95% of Roman Catholic population. The reality has changed dramatically.--122.161.160.91 (talk) 17:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

This source cites the latest (2006)figures by diocese according to the Catholic church. The first three dioceses I checked were all still running well above 85%, Babahoyobut was 73%. All had indeed shown a fall in the last five (not fifty) years. The IP could add all the data up in a spreadsheet and source it to this source if he wanted (adding up isn't OR), but he's probably right that it is now below 95%. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 18:10, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

A quick thought...

...Hi again, I interacted with you at WP:AN. Just wanted to say that I think the ban is a good idea. I don't think being biased against all IPs is. But on a more important note, after reviewing the vandal's activities thus far, the person/group appears to have no intention on stopping. His/her writing implies that s/he is educated and dedicated (s/he corrects his/her grammar at times). This shows me that this person will be a real pain for a while. Good luck on fighting a troll.
