Revision as of 19:11, 20 February 2006 by Sciurinæ (talk | contribs) (rm POV)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)German Eastern Marches Society (Template:Lang-de, also known as Template:Lang-de) was a German organisation founded in 1894 in Posen, Germany (now Poznan, Poland)
The organisation's objective was to support national unity through the policy of germanisation in Prussia, i.e. it wanted all citizens of Prussia to speak German and consider themselves Germans. Similar policies have been usual in many other countries. After 1918 its activities were limited to the reduced territory of Germany post-World War One, until it was finally disbanded in 1934.
The organisation was sometimes acronymically described as The Hakata (or H-K-T) Society after its founders Hansemann, Kennemann and Tiedemann. The nickname may have been influenced by the name Hecate.
Quotes
