He was born in Rio de Janeiro and played for much of his whole career for the local Flamengo. At the winter of 2005, he signed by Internazionale and immediately loaned to Chievo Verona to register. He joined Internazionale in August 2005 formally, signed 3-years-deal. And has since replaced Francesco Toldo as first choice goalkeeper for Inter due to his impressive form.
He has played 7 times for the Brazilian National Team, having won the Copa América in 2004.
