Prometheus is a forthcoming film by Ridley Scott. The project began as a prequel to Alien, written by Jon Spaihts. However, after discussions with screenwriter Damon Lindelof, the project became an original film, not exclusively canon to the Alien franchise, but taking place within the same universe. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace will star as a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw, who is one of the film's five main characters. The studio wants either Charlize Theron or Angelina Jolie as Vickers, another co-protagonist. Prometheus is set to be released on March 9, 2012.
