This page lists proposed article mergers as a supplement to the merge categories and templates; it does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s) to the articles before listing them here.

Category mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion.

Template mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Misplaced Pages:Templates for discussion.

    How to propose a merger

    Main page: Help:Merging

Proposing a merger can be done in three steps:

    1. Create a place for discussion. Go to the discussion page (also known as the talk page) of one of the articles and create a section to discuss the merger. If there's already a discussion on the talk page regarding the merger, you can omit this step. The section name can be anything, for example ==Proposed merger from Page1==.
    2. Put one of the merger tags at the top of the articles you wish to be merged. The templates {{merge}}, {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}} are the most common ones. Remember to make sure that the Discuss link in each tag points to the section you've created in step 1 – this is to prevent having two separate discussions on different talk pages.
    3. If the proposed merge is controversial or potentially difficult to carry out, follow the directions under #Requests for assistance and feedback to add it to the list.

    Automatically generated log

For each month, a list of up to 200 requests is generated by a bot. When the merge templates have been removed from the articles in question, they will be taken off the list.
Note: The bot may not be removing merged pages from the list/log in some cases. (note added: Dec. 16 2010)

    Requests for assistance and feedback

In general, this section should be used to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers that are either tricky or of a controversial nature. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. You must tag the articles, as described above, as well. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.

    Current requests

Please list new requests at the bottom of this section. Sign each listing or comment by typing: ~~~~

    • Merge Young Adult Literature (YA Lit) into Young-adult fiction as it's a duplicate article. Not at all controversial, just not a straightforward merge. Fences&Windows 19:05, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
      • Great candidates for a merge. The merge should be other way around though (yaf into yal; target may need rename), because as the latter points out, fiction is a subset of ya literature. It's not difficult per se—most unusually, it's still a good one to list here—but merits thoughtful planning, due to v. different writing style (distinct probable target audience, plus feel), v. similar but slightly different citation systems (re wp:cite need to respect that), differences in scope, of 2 well‑developed articles. Whether branching off some listy content or converting to prose should be involved (probably pre merge) is another consideration. Done well, and with care, it would shine. –Whitehorse1 22:38, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
    • Merge 1640 in Paleontology, 1665 in Paleontology, 1671 in Paleontology...(the rest can be seen here) in to some thing like "Paleontology in the 17th Century". The reason for this is that there are very little of these articles (6), and each one has very little unique content. Macadamia14 (talk) 01:43, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
    • Merge No. 664 Squadron RAF and No. 664 Squadron RCAF. I'm not sure which should be the target (probably, the former), but both seem to describe the same military unit, with some duplication, but unique information in both articles. Checking some online sources, there is also some confusion elsewhere as to the correct name. If nothing else, I think one should become a redirect to the other. A similar situation seems to exist between the following to pairs of articles:
