Actual Experiences

Want to know about Niles North High School? How about asking students?

This is a collaboration of memories from students of the graduating classes of 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Enjoy yourself.

Pep assemblies: If you have school spirit, or let it overcome you, this can be one of the most enjoyable times of your high school experience. Mitch (2005) wrote in the thespian newsletter his senior year a way for thespians of troupe #113 to live through these. It consisted of sitting in packs of thespians while wearing shirts from previous plays, being quiet as possible, not being cheerful. For athletes, it is a time to shine or embarrass yourself very quickly. Only one can be done, which is quite saddening on many parts. For the "just-right" pep assembly: cheerleaders, vikettes (dance team), athletes, freshmen class, sophomore class, junior class, and what can be found of the senior class, staff, whoever.. doesn't actually matter. It is only a time to be able to shout "GO HOME FRESHMEN!" although "the new principal says we should say 'welcome freshmen!' instead," says Uriel (2008).

Homecoming: As a member of committee their senior year, graduates of 2005, Bernice and Arielle can tell you what's what. This means that Homecoming is one of the greatest weeks ever. For one full week of spirit days: dressing up each day, consisting of the usual decades day, purple and white (school colors) day, pajama day, etc. The powderpuff football game: where our girls actually play the game and don't harass anyone because we're all friends. The football game: where the homecoming court is presented and that is usually the only time anyone looks to see the football field, because our football team never wins.. or scores.. or.. plays for that matter; and all alumni come back to visit in large packs of fun-loving.. packs. The homecoming dance: where people scramble to see who is wearing what and attempt to dance around in a mass amount of peers.
