He is perhaps best known for his 1993 album The Robe. For a very brief period in the late 1980s, he attended Covenant College outside of Chattenooga, Tennessee. He also led worship at Christian youth retreat camps.
In 2005, King was diagnosed with lymphoma, and the tribute album Life Is Precious: A Wes King Tribute was released in July 2006 to raise money for his medical expenses. This albums artists range from Addison Road to Derek Webb. King and his wife, Fran (the sister of former U.S. Congresswoman Katherine Harris), have three children.
