He is the youngest of four brothers. His father was Shri Hans Ji Maharaj a well known Indian Master who gave Maharaji the gift of Self-Knowledge when he was only 6 years old. In 1966 Shri Hans Ji Maharaj passed away and Maharaji became the person to make this message of peace available. He continued speaking to large audiences in India throughout his childhood.
In 1971 at the age of 13 Maharaji was invited to come to London and Los Angeles. Since this time he is teaching Self-Knowledge in the West, a method of four techniques to turn the senses within. These techniques are shown to look inside, to listen inside, to feel inside and to taste inside. This is not an intellectual task but more a self-empathic awareness of the inner self. As of 2003 there are up to 500,000 people in more than 70 countries around the world who received the techniques of Knowledge.
Maharaji has been more than 20 years an American citizen and lives with his californian wife and their four grown up children in Malibu, Los Angeles. Mr. Rawat is acknowledged by many public communities, business associations and magazines for his merits for young people and for personal management and leadership. He speaks to people about something that is relevant to each individual regardless of country, culture or creed. Maharaji travels around the world many times a year giving lectures to his students as well as holding public events. His students practice the techniques of Knowledge daily for at least one hour. The experience is very personal and of no comaprison. If you want to know more about "what people say" you can visit the external website http://www.tprf.org/what_peop_say.htm
There is also a daily digital satellite video broadcasting with speeches of Maharaji and hundreds of video tapes of lectures for people to tune in. http://contactinfo.net/broadcasts.htm
