The following is a proposed Misplaced Pages policy, guideline, or process. The proposal may still be in development, under discussion, or in the process of gathering consensus for adoption.Shortcut
This page in a nutshell: Misplaced Pages disputes are diverse and complex, and quite often it is unclear where the correct forum to take these disputes. At other times, there are trivial disputes or questions that don't belong at another forum. The purpose of this noticeboard is resolve small disputes or refer them to the correct forum.

Overview

This noticeboard is an attempt to better organise the Misplaced Pages dispute resolution process. It's main aims are to be a starting point for dispute resolution, as too often disputes are sent to the wrong forum, other times sent to a place it shouldn't be eg Admin Noticeboard/Incidents. Other times still there are minor, trivial disputes or enquiries from new users unfamiliar with policies (eg their unsourced edits are removed) that can be resolved quickly without clogging up other forums. In situations where proper dispute resolution is required, the users involved could be directed to the most appropriate DR forum to get their issues addressed and resolved.

The benefits of this are a) It would help keep track of Misplaced Pages disputes, and their resolution. b) Act as a starting point for most disputes in the resolution process, ensuring they actually get directed to the best forum where they can be addressed properly and c) Aid in resolution of small disputes and trivial matters where other DR forums are unnecessary.

As a noticeboard, it would be open to comments by all, but patrolled by mediators who can assist in inquiries. There is no restriction on who can assist users with inquiries.

While not ideal, a possibility would be to have a few "clerks" also monitoring the page. Their role would be to ensure that discussions don't get out of hand and say somewhat civilised, and to direct users to the best area for resolving their dispute if a quick resolution is not viable on the noticeboard. They may also look after archiving discussions. Similar to SPI, they hold no "powers" and have no authority above any other user, they are simply assisting the noticeboard due to having experience in the DR process. Anyone can comment and assist on the page, but to become a clerk you would need to demonstrate either a good knowledge of the DR process or experience in DR. This is not meant to add bureaucracy or segregate users from "clerks", the only purpose of the clerks is to ensure that disputes are directed to the best forum.

A draft of how the noticeboard might look is below.
