The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law is a public law school located on the main campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. It was founded in 1895 as the Kansas City School of Law, a private, independent law school located in Downtown Kansas City, and was purchased by the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1938. The law school moved to UMKC's main campus in 1974. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools.
The School of Law produces more future judges than any other law school in Missouri, according to local business publication Ingram's Magazine. The school is one of only six American law schools, along with Columbia Law School, Harvard Law School, Yale Law School, the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and the University of Virginia School of Law, to have produced both a President of the United States and a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. The school's graduates consistently pass the Missouri Bar Examination at a higher rate than graduates of any other law school.
