Horasis is an independent think tank based in Geneva, Switzerland, which was established in 2005 by Frank-Juergen Richter, a former director at the World Economic Forum. Its stated mission is to "enact visions for a sustainable future" through new platforms for cooperation and knowledge-sharing, particulary between developing countries and emerging markets.
Horasis fosters this cooperation through invitation-only meetings of top global business leaders with a regional focus, including the Global India Business Meeting and the Global China Business Meeting. Participants are CEOs of multinational corporations, politicians and cultural leaders as well as representatives from civil society, and they have been dubbed a "world economic forum for emerging markets."
In addition to the regional-focused meetings, Horasis holds an annual global meeting in Zurich, Switzerland. The first meeting, which focussed on "Strategies to Overcome the Global Economic Crisis," was attended by 100 participants from 20 countries, including leaders such as Esko Aho, Alan G. Hassenfeld, and Wolfgang Lehmacher. The second Horasis Annual Meeting was held on 25-26 January 2011.
