Pastoral farming is farming related to livestock rather than crops and other foliage: crops are grown solely for the purpose of feeding the livestock (cows, pigs, sheep etc.) so that they stay healthy and optimum for use as meat, wool (sheep), milk (cows) and eggs (poultry) as well as many others.
