To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.
Main Page toolbox- Protected pages
- Commons media protection
- Associated
- It is currently 12:44 UTC.
- Purge the Main Page
- Purge this page
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 12:44 on 29 December 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Re The Rova of Antananarivo: the word "former" is a slip of the tongue in the statement "It served as the former residence . . . ". It either is the former residence, or in the past it served as (or was) the residence. I have already fixed the article itself. Awien (talk) 02:28, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

About tommorrow's featured article: Misplaced Pages:Today's featured article/November 7, 2011 (Battle of Tippecanoe). I've just rewritten the lede to bring it more in line with modern scholarship; the article, which got its star 2 1/2 years ago, barely touched the scholarly sources. The blurb for tommorrow is okay, except for the claim "it was later revealed that the British leaders in Canada had supplied Tecumseh's force with firearms and munitions", which is an overstatement not supported by any scholarly source that I know of. I suggest you remove that phrase and perhaps recast using my rewritten lede. Cheers! —Kevin Myers 07:28, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Errors in In the news
Tunisia
I just noticed that the Tunisia item refers to "Tunisia's first Constituent Assembly election held since the country's revolution." There do not appear to be plans for further Constituent Assembly elections; normally constituent assemblies disband when the constitutions they create go into effect. Should we take the "first" out?--Cam (talk) 23:51, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Elements
Shouldn't it be the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry instead of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics? ElMa-sa (talk) 14:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- This says "Physics", and this says both. Art LaPella (talk) 14:55, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- It's IUPAP this time, the IUPAC (I think) officially named these elements earlier (certainly in the case of Copernicium which was named in February 2010, and also featured on ITN then) - Dumelow (talk) 15:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- According to : "The General Assembly approved these suggestions from the Joint Working Party on the Discovery of Elements, which is a joint body of IUPAP and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC)." The IUPAC proper adopted the names a long time ago. (See, e.g., .) I think the Main Page should be updated to clarify exactly what it was that took place yesterday. —Gordon P. Errors in today's or tomorrow's On this day
"1605 – Thomas Knyvet arrested explosives expert Guy Fawkes and foiled Robert Catesby's Gunpowder Plot to destroy the Houses of Parliament in London during the State Opening."
This is incorrect, and poorly phrased. Knyvet wasn't a central role in the story, but more importantly, Catesby's plan wasn't to destroy the Houses of Parliament, it was to destroy the House of Lords during the State Opening of Parliament. A better phrasing might be:
- "1605 - the arrest of Guy Fawkes, found during a search of the Palace of Westminster, foiled Robert Catesby's plot to destroy the House of Lords and all within it." Parrot of Doom 00:28, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
I had to swap out the OTD entry with the image, as it is also the TFA today. Can someone find and protect a new image for OTD? Nikkimaria (talk) 02:38, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

"Two small indents on the back of the carts allow it to connect or pass through the system's cartridge dustcover flaps." The reference is offline, so is "carts" insiders' jargon for "cartridges"? Does "it" refer to the "carts", and if so why isn't it plural? Art LaPella (talk) 06:26, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
