Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism. Unsigned user(s) keep section blanking content unfavorable to the article's subject in an apparent attempt to protect the the image of the company subject of the page. Stemel (talk) 12:34, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    Jack Brabham (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full protection. In the past thirty-six hours, a user, Malbeare has attempted to edit information into the article, which violates WP:COI. Malbeare's edits centre on a court case against Brabham in 2009; Malbeare was the one who brought action against him in the first place. He often lists his edits as "factual information" or "factual truth article" and admits being the party named in the article he repeatedly tries to edit in. Requesting full protection until the issue can be resolved (hopefully quickly). Prisonermonkeys (talk) 09:17, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    User talk:70.31.46.192 (edit | user page | history | links | watch | logs)

Reblock TP abuse. Please increase the time of his block. Persistent vandalism, evading his block from Special:Contributions/76.64.23.73. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 20:48, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

User(s) blocked. I've removed talk page access, and upped the block to 72 hours. After doing that, though, I see the other IP is blocked for several months. If you think this one should be longer, let me know (or perhaps there's a range that should be blocked here). Qwyrxian (talk) 09:10, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    Misplaced Pages:SOPA initiative/Action (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Indefinite semi-protection: this page should have been semi protected - users that are not auto confirmed should not be adding weight to such a major project decision. Youreallycan 20:42, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Declined - Semi-protecting an important discussion solely to lock out anons and new users isn't very Misplaced Pages-like. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:07, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    Cluj-Napoca (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A lot of IP edits are vandalism. Codrin.B (talk) 20:23, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. I only see 2 instances of POV pushing (which is different than vandalism, although it can also justify protection) in the last month. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:05, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    Doron Perkins (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – persistent vandalism from IPs. Soliloquial 20:00, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Already protected. by User:CIreland. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:03, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    Hindutash (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent POV-pushing from multiple IP socks of banned User:Hindutashravi. The article had been protected multiple times since 2010, but the user keeps coming back after the protection expired. Two related articles, Sanju Pass and Aksai Chin, are already under protection due to the activities of the same user. Zanhe (talk) 19:28, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected indefinitely. Given the length of the problem, the relatively long times between the edits, and the fact that there weren't really other constructive IP edits, it's time for indefinite. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:02, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    Žigmund Pálffy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Long-standing vandalism – IP editors keep removing sourced info. I just don't want to get into any revert-war and don't even think that it would give any result. Thehoboclown (talk) 19:01, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:58, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

List of most populous metropolitan areas in India (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP user keeps placing his favourite cities on the top. Looks childish, but I cant find a better way. —Commander (Ping me) 18:20, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:56, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

National Organization for Marriage (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP editor acting against talk page consensus. Binksternet (talk) 18:01, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

User(s) blocked. The IP editor appears to be on a static IP (or at least, one that's changing very slowly). If the IP hops, let me know or bring back here and we can use semi-protection instead. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:51, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

    System of a Down (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Pending changes - Worked amazingly well with this article, was removed with the malformed RFC that had a quarter the participants of the original RFC. I'd like to request that it be enabled for this instance due to the several months of vandalism-free time it offered this high-risk article, with great success. Persistent vandalism, especially in the past 48 hours. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ  ¢ 17:44, 14 January 2012 (UTC) and if you're not willing to bend the rules I can deal with semi-protection, preferably indefinite. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ  ¢ 18:45, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. The use of Pending Changes is absolutely, 100% forbidden outside of the testing site. No exceptions. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:41, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Radiation effects from Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism - We're having trouble with an IP user who keeps introducing problematic edits (see typical diff). He continuously changes IP, so semi-protection seems the only way. From a feedback we got on the talk page, this user may have already been (indefinitely) banned due to the same behaviour. Indefinite full protection: Persistent vandalism – An editor from Lima, Peru continues to alter the results. It is unlikely that anything on the page needs to change and edit requests can be made if errors or omissions are discovered. If not permanent, at least for several months. Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
