Summary
Temple Run is a video game developed by Imangi Studios. It is currently released for only iOS systems, including the iPhone and the iPad.
Game Play
The game centers around Guy Dangerous, and other characters who are explorers that steal an idol from an ancient temple. However, your efforts to steal the treasure seem futile when a group of malignant temple spirits (who make sounds like some sort of demonic monkey) pursue you out of the temple, thus initiating a "run." The object of the game is to run as far as possible by avoiding obstacles that require you to either jump (slide finger forward), duck (slide finger backwards), or turn (slide finger to the right or left) in a precise manner. While all of this is happening, you will be in the pursuit of the "demonic monkey spirits". While playing, you are required to tilt your device either to the right, or to the left to collect coins. These coins are primarily in the shape of a yellow diamond but according to their point value, they can also be a red diamond which is interpreted as a 2-point coin, or even a blue diamond, which means 3 points. The coins you collect in the game can be spent in the game's "store" which you can find at the beginning menu. At the store you are able too purchase upgrades for making powerups that are acquired in the game more beneficial, as well as perks and unlockable characters and wallpapers. Also, in game play the further you continue surviving the higher score you get these are also called points. However, the points you collect in your score can only be earned to unlock objectives. Coin points can be earned in game play to unlock objectives, and can also be spent at the store.
Other Information
- Firstly, I would like to say for the people who are still debating whether or not this app is going to arrive for the Android. Although the internet says things about it being out currently (1/15/12) unfortunately, it is not. However, a version for the android will be released in 1-3 months because of Imangi Studio's partnership with a game developer to create the game for the device.
- Temple Run is currently a free iOS application, so get it while you can!
