OCW edit

Merge

I've suggested a merge of the article you started Beyond Belief (symposium) to The Science Network. Steve Dufour (talk) 17:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Beret

I like the fact that you came over to express an excellent view on the beret article. It really is a fount of information, and I love it, but its organisation is BAAAAD!! True, too, that the military section ought to be somehow separated or branched off, or whatever the devil they call it here. However, I guarantee you that NO ONE will do it, no one cares.76.195.83.35 (talk) 09:37, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

The move has been made. See Military beret. --Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 23:39, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Lithic Fragment (geology)

I undid your edit to this page, because the lithic fragment page is referring to just that, lithic fragments (in the Gazzi-Dickinson method sense), not rock fragments. Rock fragments CAN be igneous, but lithic fragments are ONLY volcanic. By definition, a plutonic rock fragment is NOT a volcanic lithic fragment, therefore using volcanic instead of igneous is more helpful and specific. Also, adding VRF, etc. does not apply, because that stands for Volcanic ROCK FRAGMENT, and does not apply to a page on lithic fragments. If you are unclear on this distinction, see rock fragment, lithic fragment (geology), and Gazzi-Dickinson method for more info, or feel free to ask me a question... I only did my M.S. on Lv's!

Possibly unfree File:IMG 2314.jpg

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:IMG 2314.jpg, has been listed at Misplaced Pages:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Angus McLellan (Talk) 16:21, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

You can look at {{non-free logo}} and then add that to the picture if you like. That would solve the problem. But there are other ways. Do you know when this badge was adopted? Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:33, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

File:Folk.jpg

Hi, thank you uploading media, It's appreciated.

However, it seems that a recent upload of yours, has been uploaded over an existing image, It is appreciated that this was seemingly done accidentally.

If possible consider re-uploading the image under a different more unique name, and asking an experienced contributor or administrator to restore the image that was accidentally uploaded over. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:52, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh I'm so sorry! I have reuploaded the file as File:RobertFolk in Italy7.jpg. Could you help me revert the file File:Folk.jpg? Thank you! Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 19:22, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Don't forget to include a license tag! :) , Thanks though. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:17, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:RobertFolk in Italy7.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:RobertFolk in Italy7.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:07, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Contourite

Hi Hamsterlopithecus, I reverted your removal of the Contourite book ref as it was being used throughout the article. If you click on the link, that takes you into the book, but for some reason jumps to a page that it can't show. Just click on the other occurrences of the search term and you will see the various supporting statements. I should probably try to update the citation with different pages for each one - I'll try tomorrow but right now I'm off to bed. Mikenorton (talk) 00:32, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Mikenorton, I am going to be editing the contourite article pretty heavily. With your permission, I will remove your source for the "Contourites" book and add my own. If you disagree with the definition, we can discuss the issue here or in the article's discussion page. I will truly appreciate your input on the end product of the article. Thanks! And goodnight! Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 00:37, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
No problem, I just wanted to be sure that you realised that the book was used elsewhere in the article. The article could certainly do with expansion. I'll hold off and make any comments after you're finished. What this (and many other articles) need is some images, I've looked at a lot of contourites on seismic reflection data in my day job, but I've not been able to find any public domain pictures. Mikenorton (talk) 07:53, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
I have finished editing the article for now. I might add a bit more eventually. Let's talk in the article's discussion about revisions and additions. Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 17:05, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:BP Oilspill June25.2010.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:BP Oilspill June25.2010.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Misplaced Pages. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Southwestern Energy

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Southwestern Energy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. France3470 (talk) 19:45, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

advice

I added that it is traded on the NYSE, which is a claim to possible importance; it wll not be speedy deleted. But it will probably be deleted in our regular way, unless you add some 3rd party references to meet WP:ORG. I'd advise you to do this immediately DGG ( talk ) 20:01, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Truco in Venezuela

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Truco in Venezuela. First, thank you for your contribution; Misplaced Pages relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Truco. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Misplaced Pages. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Truco - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Misplaced Pages looks forward to your future contributions. Singularity42 (talk) 19:34, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
