The Schuman-Josaphat tunnel is a double track rail tunnel being constructed in Brussels.
It will link line 161 (Brussels-Namur) just after the Meiser station and line 26 (Halle-Vilvoorde) at the Cinquantenaire tunnel just before the Schuman station. The line will be numbered L161A.
1250m long, it is a key component of the Brussels RER project. It will pass beneath avenue Plasky, place de Jamblinne de Meux and the Cortenbergh road tunnel.
The works began in August 2008 and the tunnel should be completed in 2012, the equipment will be installed in 2013.
Project managers are Infrabel and Beliris.
