If you could reinstate this that would be great. If you see at the side of the page there is a links to other wikipedias section, and this linked to the JA wikipedia where there is much fuller info. Also, if you see under toolbox:what links here there are many articles which linked to this lot. Is it not normal for the creating editor to get notified of such issues also? Plus there is a Wikiproject Japan you may turn to before such actions in the future. Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 19:22, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Looks like the same issue as here - if you could 'userfy'? also that would be good, thanks, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 19:30, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Per this, wrong text... Would be good to have had prior notification at least, but thanks, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 20:16, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for retrieving (if not for deleting...), Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 22:20, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Your speedy deletion of Battle of Gabai

I am somewhat concerned about the reasons you gave for the above speedy deletion (A7, with the additional note of "non-notable game"). The article concerned was apparently brought to AfD by User:Timtrent under an hour before you speedied it, saying among that other things that "the text appears to have been lifted from a game playing site". As I can't now see the article, I can't be certain but I suspect he was right and that the source was .

However, if that was the source and the article included any of its frequent citations of Arrian, then A7 was completely inappropriate - any event mentioned by Arrian is likely enough to have been discussed by subsequent scholars that citing Arrian is itself an assertion of notability. Even if none of the citations of Arrian were included, I am still slightly unhappy about the use of A7 here - apparently historical battles featured on game playing sites very often (as apparently in this case - there are other sources) genuinely took place, even if the accounts are tailored to the requirements of game players rather than accuracy. I agree that the article should probably have been speedied, but under G12 rather than A7.

By the way, while the other sources I mentioned may not be enough for a new article on the topic, I think they will probably be enough for a redirect elsewhere. I assume that there will be no difficulties made about my creating this.

Finally, one result of your speedy deletion was that the AfD was promptly closed, by User:TenPoundHammer. I would be relieved if you could assure me that he wasn't responsible for the CSD on which you acted, and that this wasn't one of the occasions on which, to quote his own signature, he "screwed up".

I see you restored this, but left the AFD tag in place. My first impulse was to revert the close and relist the debate, noting what had happened. But, on the other hand, it's been a week. So, I'm not sure how to proceed. What do you think? UltraExactZZ ~ Did 13:58, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Having seen the link quoted above I can confirm that http://www.ne.jp/asahi/luke/ueda-sarson/Gabai.html appears to be the verbatim source of the article. I have now flagged it as such f0or speedy deletion. If there was a real battle, I still wonder of that is notable. However, that requires a very different article. The originator's contributions log shows just this article as a contribution here. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 18:41, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
And, on that basis, I deleted it again and closed the AFD I had just relisted. UltraExactZZ ~ Did 18:46, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Don't we all lead exciting lives :) Fiddle Faddle (talk) 18:48, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
We must have different definitions for exciting! But this is lively for a Monday. UltraExactZZ ~ Did 18:50, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Glad to see the stake through this one, thanks to all Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:54, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Glassman

Hi Jim Can you please tell me why you deleted Glassman events? I thought it was informative rather than sales pitch ... very new to this game so please could you advise? Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. thanks annie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anniebago (talkcontribs) 12:12, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Anshe Emet Synagogue

Hi Jim,

I'm very new to page creation, but I'm a longtime Misplaced Pages user. Misplaced Pages tells me that you deleted the page for Anshe Emet Synagogue in 2007, but since I'd never heard of Anshe Emet before 2010 and know I'd read the page, that sounds wrong. In any case, the deletion says you listed "spam" and "advert" as the reasons, but the content I remember wasn't an ad, and Anshe Emet is definitely notable (at least as notable as Anshe Sholom B'nai Israel or Temple Sholom, also synagogues in the Lake View neighborhood of Chicago). Can you fill me in? Thanks!

Disambiguation link notification for March 16

Hi. When you recently edited Gabriel Bello, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Church of God (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
