For example Suriname, is depending on the export of Bauxite, which accounts for more than 15% of GDP and 70% of export earnings. Russian export is for more than 80% based on oil, natural gas, metals and timber. Norway depends on the export of oil and gas, that forms 45% of total exports and constitute more than 20% of the GDP.
Australia developed a resource-based economy in the later twentieth century, while retaining a foundation in agricultural exports, and latterly minerals.
Alternative use
The term resource-based economy or Post scarcity is also an economic theory in which things such as goods, services and information are free. This use of the term is found in the writings of Jacque Fresco, in relation to The Venus Project. The Zeitgeist Movement uses the term resource-based economy as does the Technocracy Movement.
