Steven G. Kaplan (February 23, 1962; San Marino, California) is an American lawyer turned film producer. He co-founded Rainstorm Entertainment in 2002 with his brother-in-law, Gregg L. Daniel.

Biography

Kaplan is the co-founder of Rainstorm Entertainment, a privately financed feature film development, production, finance and sales company. As a film producer, Kaplan financed and produced the feature film,Terror Tract starring John Ritter and Bryan Cranston. Kaplan also produced, The Big Empty starring Jon Favreau and Kelsey Grammer. Artisan Entertainment released the film theatrically, Showtime Networks purchased cable rights and Lionsgate Entertainment released the film on DVD. The Big Empty

Kaplan served as the primary financier and producer for the documentary Fuck, released theatrically by ThinkFilm, as well as WWII documentary Red White Black & Blue, which appeared on PBS/ITVS in November, 2007. His other producer credits include Big Bad Wolf (Universal) and Wraiths of Roanoke; The Lost Colon (Sci Fi Channel/Allumination Filmworks).

Personal life

Kaplan graduated from UCLA in 1985 with a B.A. in Political Science. He earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1988. Kaplan is a native of California from San Marino, California. Kaplan lives in Calabasas, California with his wife, Kimberly Daniel Kaplan and two children.
