Santo Amaro is a district in the subprefecture of the same name of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It was formerly a separate municipality until 1933, when it was incorporated to the municipality of São Paulo.
It is located in the southern area of the city. It borders the district of Pinheiros to the north, and together the area is known by the locals as the "Brazilian Manhattan" along the Berrini Avenue, due to the very modern buildings, including five star hotels like Hyatt, Melia, and Hilton. Many multinational companies like Intel, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, SAP, Nestlé, Deloitte, Schneider Electric, Accenture and Pfizer have their Brazilian offices in Santo Amaro.
Some of São Paulo's leading upscale shopping malls are located in Santo Amaro. They include Shopping Morumbi, Shopping D&D, and Shopping Marketplace, with Shopping Morumbi in particular being one of the best known malls in Brazil. Cine TAM is located in Shopping Morumbi.
