Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is an Indian television drama that premiered on 12th January 2009 on Star Plus. The show is produced by Rajan Shahi's Director's Kut Productions. The show recently almost completed three and a half years and 900 episodes of run on 30th May 2012.

Overview

The story tells about two strangers Akshara and Naitik, who get married with each other by an arranged marriage. After marriage they fall in love after that they deal with their life's daily routine and their problems. But they are happy with each other.

Plot

The story is about Akshara who is a princess of Maheshwari family who live at Udaipur. She is brought up in a Marwari and a mannered, soober and descent family, Maheshwari family. She is the apple of eyes of her parents, Vishambhar and Rajshri. She is also the princess of her aunt, uncle and the most cutest Dadi. Akshara is a careless girl who does not take any thing carefully and Rajshri is always seen to be in tension. Akshara had her childhood friend, Varsha fall in love with Akshara's brother, Shaurya. Nobody supports their love but Akshara made everybody understand and then they wed Shaurya to Varsha.

One day, A guy, Rituraj came to meet Akshara. Akshara liked the guy but the relation broke as the Rituraj's family had misunderstanding that Akshara wants to became a singer. Akshara was very hurt. After sometime, Akshara relaxed. After somedays, it was time to celebrate Holi. On Holi, Shankari brought a relation of Naitik. Singhania family likes Akshara. Naitik wants to spent sometime with Akshara and he do so. Naitik starts to ask questions from Akshara but Akshara didn't answer any single question and Naitik got angry.

After of all Naitik agrees to wed Akshara. The guy, Rituraj who rejected Akshara was seen to be the cousin of Naitik and jealouses Naitik. One day, Rituraj lost a match from Naitik and in jealousy he told everything to Naitik, which made Naitik angry and a misunderstanding took birth between Akshara-Naitik. Naitik does not want to talk Akshara.

After of all, Akshara weds Naitik but Naitik was still upset but at the first night Akshara made understand Naitik everything and here their new life starts. Akshara succeeds to became a perfect Bahu, Patni and Bhabhi. Akshara wants to study forward but Dadda ji didn't allow her. Akshara had many misunderstandings with Naitik and Gayatri. One day, Akshara comes to know that Nandini loves Mohit. She told everybody that Nandini-Mohit are in love but everybody became angry on her and Naitik asked her to leave the Singhania's Mansion and as she do. Here Maheshwari and Singhania family put their role and they became one to meet Akshara-Naitik and at Holi. Akshara went back to Singhania's mansion. After lot of request by Natik and Akshara, Nandini weds Mohit.

Naitik appoint a new jewellery designer for her business, Sneha. Naitik thought that Akshara is not giving him enough time so he acts to be in love with Sneha so that Akshara will be impressed and gave him much time which became opposite and Sneha also falls in love with Naitik and Akshara once again angry with Naitik. Akshara gets knowledge that it was a plan. Sneha also came to know truth and her mother also came to know everything. Varsha discovered to be pregnant. Sneha's mother one day came to Singhanias to tell them everything but Akshara begs her to not open her mouth. Gayatri also gets to know and she also stops talking with Naitik. Akshara was very upset with Naitik, but on Diwali during Ram Leela, they solved their problems.

Suddenly, Naitik's Bua ji arrives. She is very orthodox ans strict. She gets in fight with Naitik about their culture and trditions. NAandini comes nack as there are some problems between her and Mohit. Bua ji blames Akshara for this and goes away. One day Naitik, thought to teach Akshara driving. They broke number plate due to which Dddta Ji had to face alot ashamed in front of the city. There were some financial problems in Singhania family. Against the wish of Dadda ji, Akshara took Vishambhar's help. Therefore, Dadda ji decided to separate Naitik-Akshara from the family.

Akshara and Naitik solve the problems Mohit and Nandini. The family members start realising their mistake. Varsha give birth to a bay girl, Ananya. One day, Dadda ji had a minor heart attack and their was nobody at home except Akshara. She by her own brought Dadda ji to hospital which impressed Dadda ji and he once again became joined. Akshara discovers to be pregnant but soon gets miscarriage. Rashmi weds to a guy, Nikhil who believes in a modren thinking and dislikes the culture.

Akshara once again discovers to be pregnant. In the stage of her pregnancy, she started a wrote her feelings in her diary. Singhanias had a lost and they had to left their mansion. First Maheshwaris took them to their home but after some days they left the Maheshwari mansion and shifted to a small home. They faced a lot of problems there. Akashara's health deteriorated on the day of her Godh Bharai, which made Gayatri think to sent her to her parents house. But, Akshara refused. After somedays, Sneha gave a contract to Naitik and with the help of the contract they took their mansion back.

9 months passed and now Akshara was taking her final days of her pregnancy. One day, Naitik had to go to Pune for business tour and as he reached Pune, Akshara delivery pain started. As a result, she gave birth to a bay boy, who is named Naksh which includes Na from Naitik's name and Ksh from Akshara's name. He is the star of eveyone's eye especially Gayatri and Rajshri.

Akshara took the book with her self to the hospital which was left in hospital and an assistant of a writer took that and hand over to the writer. There becomes dispute between Nikhil and Rashmi and the matter is reached till divorce. Naitik and Akshara solve the problems between Nikhil-Rashmi. The writer requested Akshara to allow him to publish the book but Dadda ji didn't agree. After sometime, Dadda ji agrees to publish the book and as a result Akshara became a popular writer. Due to all this, Akshara avoids Rajshri and does not talk to her, which in turn creates problems between both of them. Shaurya and Naitik make Akshara patch up with Rajshri.

Bhabhi Maa's brother Ranjan and his wife Lalita arrive at Udaipur. It it revealed that Nandini cannot become a mother. The whole family is very shocked to hear this. Ranjan and Lalita infuence Bhabhi Maa her to to give Naksh to Nandini. Bhabhi Maa fells in bathroom and faints. Sh is taken to hospital. She gains consciousness and realises her mistake. Akshara comes to know this and is shattered. Dadda ji and others support Akshara and decide not to give Naksh to anyone.

Singhania and the Maheshwari families go for a picnic at Mount Abu. There Akshara meeta a guy named Samar. Samar starts loving Akashara at first sight and doesn't know that Akshara is married and has a son. He becomes to be brother of Anshu's best friend. At Anshu's birthday paty, he meets Natik and comes to know the truth. He thinks that Naitik doesn't love Akshara and is torturing her. Naitik and Akshara prove him wrong. Naitik and Shaurya are going to start their new business.

Leap Of 3 months

Naksh was now 9 months old. After sometime, Shaurya and Naitik are facing a lot of misunderstandings in their work. They both and now they didn't like to talk each other. On Akshara's birthday, all the family members come to know the truth. This brings sadness in both the families. Akshara and Gayatri bring out the true face of their fraud manager. After a struggle of Akshara and family members, Naitik-Shaurya solve their problem.

After some days, Akshara found a girl in a park, Chikki. She brought her to the home. Gayatri doesn't like her. All the family members decide to keep her at home till they get some information about her. On Dadda ji and Bhabhi Maa's 35th wedding anniversary, everyone decides to get them remarried. After the marriage, it is revealed that Chikki is an orphan girl who is living with her evil uncle and aunt. Akshara decided to adopt her and with the permission of Datta Ji, she adopts.

On the day of Teej, Naitik and Naksh gets into trouble in the riot in the city. They come home safely but Naitik starts thinking that it is not safe to live in India. On Janmashtami, all perfrom Krishna Leela as it it Naksh's first Janmashtami. Naitik gets problems in business and there is also power cut in North India. Due to this Naitik decided to go to London to see job opportunities there. Akshara and all the family members are shattered to know this. Akshara is very tense and angry on Naitik.

At Maheshwari house, ther is award ceremony of Sooraj Rathi(Diya Aur Baati Hum) who is the winner of World's Top Coook. Akshara and Sandhya share their problems with each other. Dadda ji agrees to send Naitik with Akshara and Naksh. The whole family is sad but, agree for their bright futre. Naitik gets a job there and has to leave in two days.

Dadda ji's health is affected and he starts forgetting things. But he hides this from Naitik. Naitik and Akshara leave for Airport. Everybody show that thay are not sad but Naitik and Akshara can see it. Dadda ji goes for a walk but goes missing. Naitik and Akshara reach airport. Naitik starts thinking that he has done wrong. Many hours have passed and Dadda ji is still mising. All are searching fior him. Naitik and Akshara come to know this and return home. Naitik also brings Dadda ji and decides that he would not live his family and country.
